Default Bill to Lower Entry Requirements

Bill to Lower the Entry Requirements of the Citizen Classes

From this section of the Syntagma: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...=68722#members
Amend this section upon the matter of the rights of the Citizen class: "All Citizens, who have held their rank for three months without receiving a Staff warning, may themselves nominate other members for Citizenship as per the "Patronization" section of the Syntagma."
    To read:
"All Citizens may nominate other members for Citizenship as per the "Patronization" section of the Syntagma."

    From this section: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...t=68722#patron
Amend the phrase "The patron reviews the member before recommending him, ensuring the member has at least one hundred posts, has been a registered member for at least three months & has no warnings in the last six months."
    To read:
"The patron reviews the member before recommending him, ensuring the member has at least one hundred posts, has been a registered member for at least one month & has no warnings in the last six months."

I fully endorse this and would like to be regarded as a supporter. The current limit of 3 months, though well intentioned is a mistake in my estimation. Citizenship should be rewarded for posting - this was the original intent. We have moved too far away from our roots in that sense.

I understand the second point, but I don't get the first. It doesn't seem to affect civitate entry... care t elaborate. (the post isn't laid out in the most obvious way)

I would support this, were we not also looking at a bill on the floor for the re-suffrage of civitates. Please. let's get ourselves away from this idea that the curia is a reward for posting well and look at it with a modicum of responsibility and duty...

It simply strikes something in order to allow all to patronise. Once they are citizens I suspect they will be worthy to patronise, personally.

Ahem. So you support that Bill which does make the Curia a right from posting well (as that is what Citizens are promoted for, nothing more) over a Bill which opens up the citizen classes in line with the influx of members we just had?

Hell yeah, I support. The three month probationary period is vile, grotesque, unjust and obscene. I spit upon it and call it an objectionable thing.

I raised the issue a while back, and nobody seemed to care:

Not really. I support this bill.

no, I, and note the conditional, would, were we not looking to reduce the standards even further, to make the curia purely as a place that people who show reasonable standards of posting are entitled to participate in without earning anything.
Here, we are looking to open the curia up to all, and then allow anyone to patronize at any time? So long as the curia is buffered from a mass entry by the patrician class as curial actors, I would support this because, as el cid has pointed out, the civitates class can refocus itself back to its roots, as a reward class and as such it matters not who patronizes, so long as they choose quality posters. But if citizenship has associated responsibilities, how can we hope that they will impart that to new clients? Can you expect all members who have been at this site, for a month or two with 100 reasonable posts, to be able discern who would make a quality member of the curia?

in sum, if Citizenship remains a rank of recognition and distinction, then I support.
But if we are going to enlarge the suffrage, then I cannot support an erosion of the curias ability to function in a meaningful way. The curia needs an ethos of responsibility in its halls, not one of entitlement, which this just reifies.

It simply strikes something in order to allow all to patronise. Once they are citizens I suspect they will be worthy to patronise, personally.
This pretty much sums it up. Would you like to provide some evidence that your personal opinion is fact, especially given the associated responsibilities in the curia?

We aren't removing the requirement, Nihil, just... making it one third of what it was. Its based around this new influx of members which wasn't around when you first posted that

Of course! Return it to its original and quite reasonable one-month limit.

I'd ask then, that this be moved to the vote as soon as possible (before this lynch mob of supporters gets me...)

To be honest and as I have indicated before, I'd be quite supportive of this, if the Suffrage bill doesn't pass. tGS, if you wouldn't mind, can you wait until that bill has at least passed a few days in vote so I can see the direction of it. I'd be very appreciative of that.
