Default A few questions after starting DeI for 50 turns

Hi I have just started DeI last weekend and I really appreciate the work you have done. I was a die-hard fan of Europa Barbarorum years ago, so I like all your efforts making the game more historical and realistic.

I read everything in the DeI manual, especially the supply system. I also watched the battle preview in Youtube. However, there are still a few issues that I need your help.

    1. The regional supply in supply system. I started a VH/N Bactria campaign, and I also started a Rome campaign to test the problem. It appears that every time I load a saved game for either Bactria or Rome, my regional supply for all owned province goes back to 180 no matter what they are when I save the game (like 200+). I do not think it is designed that way since it would make regional supply less important, so I am not sure whether it is a bug, and I want to know if there is any way to fix it.

I have also posted the question in the sticky thread.

FYI, my Rome 2 is a clean steam version, with everything except CiG, HatG and Sparta campaign. I have double checked that only the 6 patches of DeI are selected in the mod manager.

    2. Strategic depots. In the manual it says trade ports could also be used as strategic depots, does it mean lv 3 and 4 trade ports only, because I have built a lv 2 trade port but it does not provide a supply line for my army in the neighboring region.

    3. My Bactria can always trade with Taksashila and make some money though I did not sign a trade agreement with them. At war they still trade. If I sign a trade agreement, there would be 2 Taksashilas appearing in my trade table. Again, I am also not sure if it is designed that way.

These are my questions so far. Again thank you so much for the help.

    2. I think only trade ports in major cities count as strategic depots.

    3. That sounds like a bug. Very strange. Are you using any submods?

    Thank you for your reply!

    3. No, I do not have any submods. You can actually start a Bactria campaign and see if it is the same. I restart a new one and I still trade with Taksashila without a trade agreement.

Do you have any clue for the first question?

    One more question here

    4. My general has lv 3 siege expert and he also has a siege engineer as a household. However, before he learn these skills, when he sieges an enemy city the hold out time is 8 terns. Now it is still 8 terns.

    Don't have a clue about no 1... but 4:

Either technological advance for enemy or maybe different city, with port this time maybe?

and 3: maybe left-over files of other mods in data folder? Those can cause serious issues too, despite not being activated in mod manager!

    Thank you for the reply.

    3. I used to use 4tpy and better AI recruitment (all provided by DeI authors), I think I had remove idle traits and radious but I never used those 2.
I have deleted them now, and I started a new Bactria, still trade without agreement. Anyway if I have deleted them, is there anything else I have to do to make it clean?

    4. Yes, I think it might be some technological advancement. However, I am still going to test for the siege engineer household (with and without him).

Concerning 1, I am not sure if I am the only one having this issue. I tested it again with all other mods deleted, but still the regional supply goes back to 180 every time with a load.

    NP buddy

I just tested a Baktria campaign and the issue you reported is really persistent!!! I started with no trade with them but seemingly having a trade agreement with them. I sgined trade with them after start and look:

    Two trade agreements????

Thats definitely a bug, dunno if related to DeI but it's there

thx for bringing that up and good awareness!

So we should take a closer look at no. 1, too I think

Thanks a lot for helping me testing it out.

As a Bak fan I do not think I noticed the same issue while playing vanilla. Anw in vanilla it is Arachosia instead of Taksashila. It is not a big problem, but it is there.

Yeah I understand that there are some players just come to the forum and say hey here is a bug, there is a bug, without carefully testing it out, but problem 1 really bothered me and I have tried all my best to get rid of it, tested it a couple of times but failed.

It also seems quite unlikely that so many player fail to notice the huge change of local supply after loading a game, but I have nobody in my friend playing the game, so could you please help me to do a small test as well? Just start a Rome, go to turn 2, load the auto save and see whether the local supply for every province has changed to 180. Thank you.

The trade thing came from our attempts to alter the starting diplomacy between the factions. I will be redoing the startpos for 1.2 so this will be fixed, but for now its probably going to stay that way.

    Thanks for the reply!

The trade problem does not have any serious impact on the gameplay so no big deal actually. In fact my major concern is still the first one I mentioned, the regional supply after loading a game. Again I'm still not sure whether it is my own problem or it is actually like that.

I just ran that test and it seems I have the same issue with supplies. I will report it to Litharion.

    Thank you so much.

Again I really appreciate your response and I am glad that my feedback could help. I am now really enjoying my campaign, it would just make things better if you noticed this supply issue.
