    Default Curia role changes

updated, so it reflects where we are now.

The following changes will be made to the curia:

    • The Curia is moved under a new section
    • The civitates will have access to the Curia
    • Some ranks do not exist anymore

Thats all that pops into my mind right now to relfect the changes.

    Flame away.

Specifically, the Syntagma needs the following changes:

    • Remove reference to Tribs being elected.
    • Remove "Senatorii" rank.

So the Curia loses a power that was optionally delegated by staff, and a rank which was always under control from the admins. I don't think they are major loses.

Well we want to recognize people with great talent...like mods and such. There will have to be found a better award system. Right now this is the least of our worries.

Artifex and Opifex are staying, you guys can choose on those too or however it works. Divus along with Senatorii is gone. No need for those in all honesty.

    forgot to add:

    • Open for Opifex
    • Open for Artifex

The following ranks come under consideration of removal:

    Divus
    Senatorii

And the reason for those changes is (I guess) that the Curia made a mess with the forum skin changes, made the site inaccessible for almost a week and impeded access to the forums reducing traffic and the commercial potential of the site. Right?

    How does the saying goes?

There was a dream that was TWC. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile.

Its part of the new theme. As part of the medieval theme, the Curia has changed from the Roman Senate unto the Byzantine Senate...

Oh, we forgot to tell you? Sorry about that, it slipped our minds.

In all seriousness, the Curia was doomed since around April of this year. It sort of doomed itself when it attack Archer and claimed that his actions (making the Curial Pass) violated the Syntagma and made the whole "protection of the Syntagma" bills designed to limit his abilities. During this time ON got kinda mad and demanded the destruction of the Curia. The Staff sorta saved the Curia though, for a little while at least, though it limited its powers. However that was only a limited save, as the Curia's actions attempting to limit Archer's powers, forever damned it in the eyes of those high in charge. I guess with the current changes going on Besim decided to finish the job...

Maybe I'm a bit wrong in my interpretation of events since I was never upper staff, but that is what I got through my sources and what I had seen...

A, so it was killed when publicly creating debate on an important topic for the community... Which was, as I can see, rather bad. Nice to know what the priorities are...

And Divus and Senatorii gone too... So nice to see that all those people that more or less made TWC interesting and intelligent and debatefull and plain nice are going to be honored in such a way... Wait, they are lossing their ranks. Jolly good...

Yep quite wrong actually. None of that was seriously discussed in the Curia. Mostly a tBP solo action that didn't gather any momentum at all in the Curia. Better not to mix up reasons and pretexts.

By those standards no change is a big loss, given that at the end of the day ON has all the power.

It was how the movement was perceived by the staff at the time...

An important distinction, because it means it was not about what "the Curia" did but about the mindset of certain staff members. That observation, I think, is more relevant to recent events as well.

Will the CdeC remain in charge of making people citzens and patricians or will the curia now take over that role?

I dont understand what the point of the symposium now is - all citizens can post in the curia so why is the symposium needed?

This is my first Curia post!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked the Senatorii badge...and the Divus, people earned them through large contribution to the site, I hope there is a chance they could be brought back (or one of them anyway).

They were just Civitates with a prettier badge, so they were admittedley useless, but they still helped to make this site special.

I think you misunderstand the ranks system that was/is (partly is) in place.
They weren't there to make people feel inferior or superior, but to give people a reason to post well, to contribute to the site, and so on.

Thats my two cents, Australian cents, so not quite as much as two American cents.

Whatever. Expect everyone that is TWC, to leave, most of the mods, staff and senior members. You'll be left with a pretty skin and Besim...

I thought you had more backbone than this.

well move Senatorii and divus badges out side of curia's influence but dont scrap them.
they have nothing to do with curia, they represent EX-staff memebers only .

I think they said somewhere that they are considering what to do with those. Those ranks/titles might stay. In fact, I believe Besim already has badges for those, so it depends on their decision.

I can't say I support these changes, I have always loved those badges, I feel TWC will be an emptier and less fufilling place now.

    Actually I was...

I was a staff member during that time. It was also around the time that Oblivion came out, and I remember posting about how Archer got to level 25 in it in order to try to lighten the mood...
