Well, I always use horse archers for flanking. I send about 1-2 units of horse archers an each flank and then try to trap them. Thats about the only tactic I have for horse archers.

I like to use Hunnic Elite Archers against most any units, expecially Romans![]()
I like to use horse archers alot.Mostly against heavy infantry and phalanx units.
I like to use them against heavy infantry and phalanx units
I like to use them against heavy infantry and phalanx units
I use horse archers to flank the enemy infantry and weaken them before the real fighting begins
If you use them properly, then they can be a real asset
Hey franks rule, do you think that you can use the edit button next time instead of quadruple posting?
Thanks,

"Do you use horse archers? against what units?"
They are good against everything, horse archers are the best unit in the game.
Hi
First level horse archers, the mercenaries ive hired, tend to have lowish attacks. So I dont use them against heavily armoured troops. Use them against weaker troops so the kill tally rises quickly. Once only heavy troops remain all the casualties around them will cause low morale, they will be tired and outnumbered. Morale breaks, they rout, and the horse archers run them down rather than shoot them.

Use horsearchers to combat slow infantry troops like a phalanx.

that is how you want to set it up. Turn "fire at will" off to conserve ammo.
This way, no matter what side the phalanx turns, it will expose its rear.
If you have the troops, put some to the sides as well. Always aim only for the right side as the shields don't protect the phalangites then.
