i found out that i can retrain bulgarian bandit mercenaries in...surprise surprise...Bulgaria (yes they where mercenarys)
This is an interesting new feature and i wonder is someone found other retrainable mercanerys

You ask for steak, I bring you fish. You say that you think steak is better than fish. I say that fish is much more popular than steak so obviously it's better. I think you can retrain them in any city, whose province has them avaliable for recruitment (Similar to normal retraining). Quite a wicked new feature.

I am not sure about that Ano2 as I can re-train Mercenary Crossbowmen (replenish numbers as well as upgrade weapons and armour) in Caenarven but I cannot produce Crossbowmen there.
Still cool feature anyway

from what ive seen its based off of equivalancy, as england you cannot produce crossbowmen period, but you can still retrain the merc crossbows in any settlement that can train longbowmen

I always figured that retraining mercs works just like retraining regular units, i.e. there's a certain recruitment pool of mercs in the region, and as long as enough hireable mercs of the same type are around, you can retrain yours, no matter what type of buildings you have in your settlement.
