With all the negativaty about the AI, I thought I would share a nice AI moment with you all.
Using England I was sieging Edinburgh with an army to the south, there was a Scottish army directly west of me and two other armies nearby. When it was Scotlands turn I noticed them moving one of their armies and got ready for a battle, but they moved the army beside me to the east. "OK, I thought, I'll just have to assault next turn". Their turn wasn't over though and they moved the other nearby army to the south of me, so I was completely surrounded.
They assaulted my beseiging army with the army to the south and it was a tough battle, the Scottish armies outside Edinburgh were all around the same size as mine, though the army in Edinburgh was only one unit.
I expected it to be a bit like RTW, I could fight one army at a time because the other armies would take their time to reach me. How wrong I was, I defeated the first army and looked behind me to see 2 big armies almost upon me with only city militia units I had used to guard my rear to hold them while I regrouped my main force. I didnt have a chance, they came at me from 2 directions, my cavalry couldnt get there in time and most of my army routed. My heir and mailed knights nearly turned the tide but there was just too may of them, if they had had decent cavalry the defeat would have been even more humbling. So my second unexpected defeat in M2TW (my first was my first unsuspecting assault on Caernavon).
That was a bit longer than expected, but I just wanted to share that as I believe there is a very good game behind the minor flaws and one that can occasionally surprise you.
