    Counterintuitively, you must play the Single Player grand campaign. Then, you click on the different factions to player control of them on or off.

    I see one problem with this...

    When I played as two factions, when I ended the turn with my first (and second) faction, the map went dark (Fog of War filled where my faction was) It went away when my turn came again (after using 2nd faction).

    Since I follow the AI movement to keep an eye on my borders, how can I make it were the FOW doesn't fill in when I'm done?

    Is there no way to make it where the map stays the same ending your turn so you can see when the enemy is at your gates?

    Please someone give a yes or no answer

    I know this is borderline spamming, but I NEED an answer.

    Because I could not see my lands after ending the turn, I completely missed Spain's Army coming in from the north.

    Please help

    If yes, tell me how.
    If no, I will hush and leave.

    But I really would like an answer.

    ... Anyone?

    Can somebody help me please?
    I want to use the camera that is not "restricted".
    The camera does not allow a player to go lower a certain point (head of a unit).
    I want to go a little lower than that. Just like in cinematic editor mode! In cinedit you can go anywhere ever under ground.
    SO is there any variable that I can set so that I can move the camera freely?
    Please help me with this one. I will really apreciate it!

    Hi!

    Now, it's ok. Ascendancy v1.1 works with M2TW 1.2 and the battles are OK, BUT:

    - How can i make my new units visible. So, I've put 2 new units, Semigallian Raiders and Saracen Merceneries to the game, but they are invisible or brightening. How can i make them good?

    - My dds converter doesn't work. If i convert a texture file to dds it's ok, but if i want to convert the modified dds to texture, it doesn't work. Advices?

    - How can i remove factions from other mods? I want to have Lithuanians, Cumans etc. but i cannot remove them. Please write me a list of the files i have to modify.

    Thanx

    Is it possible to chang the # of units higher than the "huge" settings?

    @ Tiberiu_R - I would like to know that also. I am trying to get cin-ed to work, damn thing is driving me crazy. lol

    Hello all,

    I was told, on my Vista machine, that if I wanted to change the preferences.cfg file, to:

    I. Rt. click on the file
    II. Open it using Notepad
    III. Check off the "use this program" box every time

    Well, I did steps I & II but when it came time for step III, I saw NO "use this program every time" box to check because it was greyed out!

    Can someone who knows Vista please, please help me?

    Don't worry about checking the box, then. All it means is you'll have to right click and open it with notepad every time you want to edit it.

    However if you read this, I think you'll find you don't need to edit the preferences file to achieve what you want to.

    Unlimited men on the battlefield
    To allow all armies in the area to enter the battle:
    Does this mean, the reinforcements armies instantly support and don't have to travel as far or does it actually mean that you can control more then one full stack at a time without the AI controlling the other stacks?

    I'm trying to remove the secondary weapon for pikemen so they don't switch to swords in the middle of the fight. Can some one link me to where I find this, or give me a tip? Keep in mind i'm not great at modding, I messed with a few units in Rome but I've never done anything in MII TW

    Thanks!

    Erm, for whatever reason I don't have a "Preferences" file within the preferences folder. I'm running M2TW Gold. I'm pretty sure I'm looking in the right place, however I need some help finding the "Preference" text. All that is within the file is "Advice" file, "Keys" data, & a text named "Player" without any actual text inside.

    I could use some help.

    I cant get the battle editor to appear in my game.

    My medieval2.preference.cfg file looks exactly like this:

    [video]
    widescreen=0
    [game]
    allusers=1
    [features]
    editor = true

    It already had:

    [video]
    widescreen=0
    [game]
    allusers=1

    So i added:

    [features]
    editor = true

    As stated in the guide.

    Is that correct? If so, any suggestions as to why the editor doesnt appear in my options menu?

    I have patch 1.2 installed and im running windows vista 64 bit.

    EDIT:

    Seems to have been solved by installing patch 1.2 that i downloaded from a different site (i got an error while installing patch 1.2 saying it was corrupt).

    The preferences cfg file had lots more stuff in it, including things like my settings, once i had put the lines to unlock the editor and saved it, the editor appeard.

    I'm in quite a bind here .. i have pretty much tried everything mentioned in this thread to get more than one stack in battle under my control but without succes.

    Game versions are Kingdoms 1.05 and Medieval 1.03 no other mods installed.

    I tried .cfg Switching / Mod Switching / read only the preference file to no avail neither kingdoms or medieval is letting me control more than one stack

    Also with and without "[io] file_first = true" even though i didn't touch the text files in the main Data folder.

    medieval2.preference.cfg is the preference file for both medieval and kingdoms ?

    For me it looks like this:

    [io]
    file_first = true

    [audio]
    ...

    [camera]
    ...

    [controls]
    ...

    [game]
    advanced_stats_always = 0
    advisor_verbosity = 1
    ai_factions = skip
    allusers = 1
    auto_save = 1
    blind_advisor = 0
    campaign_map_game_speed = 68
    campaign_map_speed_up = 0
    campaign_num_time_play = 53
    chat_msg_duration = 10000
    disable_arrow_markers = 0
    disable_events = 0
    english = 0
    event_cutscenes = 1
    fatigue = 1
    first_time_play = 0
    gamespy_save_passwrd = 1
    label_characters = 0
    label_settlements = 1
    micromanage_all_settlements = 1
    morale = 1
    mute_advisor = 0
    no_campaign_battle_time_limit = 1
    pref_factions_played = 5
    tutorial_battle_played = 0
    tutorial_path = norman_prologue/battle_of_hastings
    unit_size = large
    unlimited_men_on_battlefield = 1
    use_quickchat = 0
    The campaigns were started before making these modifications is that a factor ? AFAIK that cfg is parsed every time the game loads ... not only when i start a new game ?

    Any help is greatly apreciated. Thank you !

    I've made myself this little teutonic remake to make Norway and the Mongols more playable, but everytime i run the Bat file i get this error (attachement 1). I've included the .bat and .cfg file as a .rar zip in the attachements. Since i've used a plain copy of the original teutonic files, i think this is kind a wierd. Hope someone can help me solve this problem.

    Here is where i keep my files:
    C:\Program Files\Sega\Medieval II Total War\teutonic_remake\data... (main mod folder)
    C:\Program Files\Sega\Medieval II Total War\teutonic_remake.bat
    C:\Program Files\Sega\Medieval II Total War\teutonic_remake.cfg
