    Yeah, bdotward pretty much capitalized on that. I find it most useful for when you wish to put garrisons in your newly created settlements. You can get the coordinates of the settlement, then minimize the window and input the coordinates into the descr_strat.

    Thread merged with 'Heres a good one: Can we run the game in a window mode?' because it's already covered in this thread.

    Ok, I'm partially lost. The only thing I cant get is how to open the darn preferences.cfg folder. What do I open it with? And yes, I have patch 1 and have unpacked. Thanks in advance to anybody!

    Never mind, Wordpad...

    Ok, so I am working on this, and I have added a few provinces. Added one first to make sure it worked, and it did, so added a couple at once. Checked all I could and see no issues... but when I go to game and tell it to start the camp, it goes back to the screen of which single player ways I want to play. Added the line to create logs, but no logs are created, any idea why?

    The portion of my cfg is as follows
    tutorial_battle_played = 0
    tutorial_path = norman_prologue/battle_of_hastings
    unit_size = normal
    unlimited_men_on_battlefield = 0
    use_quickchat = 0

    [log]
    to = logs/system.log.txt level = * error

    [multiplayer]
    hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
    hotseat_disable_console = 1
    hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
    hotseat_save_prefs = 0
    hotseat_update_ai_camera = 0
    hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1

    I can't seem to make the text file and rename the file extension to .bat?

    What you do is open up notepad, and write the line. Do save as, under file type, do all. Than save as mymod.bat

    Sylesia,

    I had the same problem and mine was a problem with using a upper case "P" in Province everywhere but in one place where I used a lower case "p" instead. Once I fixed that it worked fine. It looks to be case sensitive so check that.

    Default Hot seat in unofficial patch 1.2

    I used Hot Seat a lot when it was availeble in 1.1, and now that i got 1.2 i would like to play Hot Seat, how ever im having some trouble actually activating it.

    Here i found a surgestion to how to activate it.
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=91876

    But when i looked in my Medieval2.preference.cfg it looked like this:
    [video]
    widescreen=0
    [game]
    allusers=1

    Wich is very unlike the big text filled file that i am used to from 1.1, i tried adding the surgested text to the file however it didn't work.

    So i have a long line of questions
    Is my Medieval2.preference.cfg supose to look like that?
    What exsactly should i do to activate the Hot seat mode in 1.2?
    And when i enter the game how can i start a Hot Seat game, is it like 1.1?

    I just used the same .cfg file with hotseat code that worked for the previous version. It seemed fine. That is not working for you?

    Well that depends what is that you were using last version.

    I tryed with these two:
    [multiplayer]
    playable = true
    hotseat_turns = true
    hotseat_scroll = false
    hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
    hotseat_disable_console = 0
    hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
    hotseat_save_prefs = 0
    hotseat_update_ai_camera = 0
    hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1
    [multiplayer]
    playable = true

    [hotseat]
    autoresolve_battles = 0
    disable_console = 1
    disable_papal_elections = 0
    save_prefs = 1
    update_ai_camera = 0
    validate_diplomacy = 1
    None of them seemed to work. But how is hotseat in 1.2 is it the same way as in 1.1 where you just selected an extra faction or do you have to do something special?

    This works for me. Dunno what could be wrong with yours.

    [multiplayer]
    playable = true

    [hotseat]
    autoresolve_battles = 0
    disable_console = 0
    disable_papal_elections = 0
    save_prefs = 0
    update_ai_camera = 0
    validate_diplomacy = 1

    Try to change a setting in the game (with preferences.cfg unlocked), that should rewrite it. Then add your settings.

    Okay tried that didn't to have any effect on the file but, there is a few things i would like to have cleared up:

    By setting you mean any of those settings availeble i the option menu, like unit size and camera settings?

    What do you mean by unlocked? Is this file locked by default or something? in that case how do you disable it?

    I meant not read-only. If you can edit it, forget I mentioned it at all

    I know this sounds kinda noobdy but how do you change units stats?

    I went to the export_ unit file and I changed the stats, and it doesnt work, however I can change the ammount of soldiers in a unit and it works, im really at a loss as what to do...

    Default Hotseat feature?

    how do you use this with the new patch?

  20. #20

    Default Re: Hotseat feature?

    You add/edit in something like this to your cfg file:

    [multiplayer]
    playable = 1
    hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
    hotseat_disable_console = 0
    hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
    hotseat_save_prefs = 1
    hotseat_update_ai_camera = 1
    hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1

    New to the latest patch is password protection, so that you can (more safely) turn your back to your opponents. However, this may be annoying in a co-op style game where your friends may actually trust you to play for them.
