Since artillery was rarely used in field battles and more commonly built during sieges, on site, can we change how we get artillery in game?
We could have catapults built on site in 2-4 turns (or more, your call) when you lay siege to a city and have a supply train? Making catapults available to build for field use is fine but should severely slow down your army.
This should also help the AI, since they would wait until the catapults are built instead of having to bring them along? Maybe we wouldn’t see 4000 men standing in front of the gate getting massacred.
Also it would make the supply train more valuable and something that you would want to take out in an enemy army in your territory, even if you can’t win the battle.
