Armour Upgrade

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did scan quickly through the forum.

If a unit has 0 armour is it worth paying for a armour upgrade? if not dose the AI upgrade anyway and waste money?

The game can only add a percentage to any unit stats and therefore units with 0 wont gain anything. Sadly this is how the game engine works and yes the AI wont know the difference but considering the income bonus it recieves I doubt that the few bucks it waste on unit upgrades wont make a difference.

Actually, the AI doesn't waste money on unit upgrades - in my experience, they don't upgrade existing units. They'll only use that equipment bonus for newly recruited units and the city garrison.
