Hello all,
the solution for the "character not found" problem" has been found

1) you have a character with a single name e.g. Volo
give_trait Volo GoodDefender 5

2) character with a additional name Volo the Murderer
give_trait Volo GoodDefender 5

3) charcater with a family name "Volo Blabla"
select the character with detail window open. may not be in a city, boat or another agent / character in the group
give_trait this GoodDefender 5
