Blackmail

Playing my first game with mod and I get the blackmail event a lot early game. Paying off takes all my money or lose a lot of gravitas. I'm starting to get really low on influence, like 12% if I recall because of this. Any advice as to how I should be handling this? Thanks.

Oh and also my faction leader gets attacked by other families a lot and stays wounded about half the time. Any advice on how to slow that down would be much appreciated. Thanks

Just ignore the blackmail event. Total gravitas doesn't matter at all, only your gravitas gained per turn. The politics system is a mess though. We might look into changing some aspects for 1.2, if we can.
