Icon5 So there are campanian hoplites, nice. What about campanian cavalry?

Recently started a roman camaign, and I was happily suprised by the colorful selection of Italien troops that can be hired and recruited. For example, I am going to try and move a Taurisci Axeman to my eastern and northern borders. I also was happy to see that the Campainian hoplite not only looks cool, but is also a weaker but alot cheaper version of the traditional Triarii for your roman armies, they will definantly find a place. As I looked at the troopes I felt something was missing; campanian cavalry. So I went to the scriptorium jus to confirm, and what I thought a possibility was reealized as truth, there is no campanian cavalry unit in the mod.

So I would just like to ask if there are any possiblity for such a unit to be added, and also the reason behind their absence.

Anyhow, which the enitre DeI team the best...

There's a vanilla Campanian cavalry unit, but it's not included in DeI.

I started playing in 1.05, I have not seen them in this mod. They do have historical backing by Livy as having the best cavalrymen in all of Italy.

Campanian Cav only in Hanibal at the Gates

The Equites Extraordinarii sort of make up the idea of this. But, I can look into adding them as an AOR unit.

Thinking about it it would probably be nice if mini campaigns had their own special AoR units unique to that Campagin, especially in HatG which has the most diversity having Roman, Italian, Ligurian, Carthaginian, Numidian, South Iberian, North Iberian, Gallic, and Thureos Greeks.

Is it possible to tie unit recruitment to game year? I.e. Campanian cavalry and hoplites can be available until ~210 BC; after which point they're removed from the recruitment pool and units in armies lose the ability to replenish. I'm not sure if the AI could handle this, but would be a cool feature.

Yes, we could make them reform units to sort of accomplish that.

Thx for looking into it. Also I think it would be better if they were mercs or AOR becasue that allows other non roman factions to access them...

Yeah they would be an AOR unit for sure.

Yeah, and some AOR units already are tied to reforms, like some thureos and thorax units.

Is it possible (and practical) to implement a system whereby troops no longer replenish after a reform?

Example: Rome can recruit Accensi, then the Polybian reforms hit and they are no longer in the recruitment pool. However, any army with those units keeps them and replenishment of that unit continues as normal, so they can remain through end game if the player wishes. Is there a way to prevent that? Perhaps by permanently associating the no replenishment modifier usually seen in winter to those units?

Alternatively maybe this can/will be addressed by Litharion and Magnar's population system; give Rome five pop tiers for the Camillan era, then remove the poorest (Roarii, Accensi) upon Polybian reforms?
