Spit'em to death

Dear All, I do have this minor problem (besides the fact that a TW oldie like me has to ask the community and feels a jrk about it). Let's say that it's raining (=totally disappointing archery effects) and let's say that i have this army of heavy infantry+several turkoman and turkopoles horse archers. Now let's say that the enemy desides to rout and I have to chase them to death.
Is there ANY way to use my horse archers as a melee force EVEN WHEN they still have several arrows left, or I just have to chase the enemy down and spit them to death with useless arrows??

Alt+attack

If you hold down the "Alt" key then click attack, horse archers will use their melee weapons (their alternative to primary weapon). As far as i know this works with all ranged units.
