    Default About the visibility problem

you know the problem thats been desapointed all us, the fact that in battles your far units are not properly visible above 100 yards..aye well, i am still lookin for a way to turn this option off (tried everything in vain) and noticed that on the TGAs screenshots, i dont have that problem ? Its very normal on any screenshot of mine ! How come ? SO it means it can be solved, it just a problem with configuration inside the pc ? But not only mine though as many have been posting the same issue ?!
Someone please explain us, and how just remove this option, no matter how much laggier the game may be afterwards

uh what? you cant realistically see a unit no matter where it is and f you want to turn of the camera restriction.

Why would you want to overclock a celeron? It woudl only make it suck faster...

He is referring to the adaptive LOD and how as units in the distance appear as sprites as they did in RTW. As far as I know in RTW turning unit detail to "Highest" removes all sprites and means your units will appear as 3d models no matter their position. I do not know if M2TW does this, as I am scared of the highest setting (lol, do not want my precious compy to self immolate) and set to high instead (in which I do get sprites, which I do not like the looks of...byzantines were way too purple :S )

if it is a unit that is distant, then i just see a messy thing. u probaly have noticed that too, its very distinctif and horrible. Its not the camera restrictions i think, its graphic.

you could also turn on anisotropic filtering and the highest X you can take performance wise. this will make distant textures better and cleaner. Anti-allas can also heap but its a huge burden on your card.

In RTW, AA made it impossible to take screenshots (the TGA's)...is this so in M2TW?

I'm not sure since my pc fried the day after i got mtw. I just know how settings work. I built another one with no graphics card yet. Wow that sucked I cant think why AA would stop you from taking screenies. Weird.

EDIT: he did those report buttons just show up cool.

I doubt that is the problem. If he had missing files the game would not choose to run, as sprite related problems tend to simply cause this engine to crash before the battle begins.

yes but for some files you can remove them with no ill effects like the info and company movies from the start of allot of games. it sometimes doesn't display the element if the file is missing.

Yes, you can remove the introduction movies and screens and the like (to a point AFAIK)...but that has nothing to do with the battles, in which he is taking screenshots apparently...with no sprites...but in the battles themselves...there are sprites. Sprites are touchy, like I said, if you mess up sprite files the game simply won't run (apparently there is a problem with the timurid elephants? Perhaps a similar problem...). When I was beta testing a certain large scale modification that isn't quite out, I did run into a very consistant crash that was later determined to be due to improperly set up sprite files. It cannot be messed up or missing files of this nature, or the game's battles would not run at all (former), or sprites just wouldn't appear at all (latter).

Nah, thats hardly it, it is entirely possible to make your own sprites if you make your own units (or don't like the current ones AHEM). Just with all things they don't like being messed up. It is confusing to me how highest doesn't turn off sprites apparently. I'm going to go check that out and goof around in the preferences files and see if I can get a satisfactory result later on today, we'll see if my basic knowledge of RTW modding can get me anywhere in the unexplored land of M2TW...

there are two "highests"- the one in game writes out as HIGH in the cfg file. IF you change the CFG file to read HIGHEST (txt edit it yourself) in unit detail- it turns off sprites completely (at least for me it did).

can I get a confirmation on this

I mean why would they not give the 'highest' option in game like they did in RTW?

probably because anyone without an uber pc would crash and burn on that setting.
