    Default Fastest crusade ever!

My faction leader King Louis of France took Antioch in an succesfull crusade in 1150. He then spent the next 20 turns (40 years) in converting the city with churches and priests and the brute force of his crusaders.

In 1190 the Pope again needed King Louis to take Jerusalem in the next crusade. In only 1 turn King Louis joined up and traveled the short distance from Antioch to Jerusalem and took Jerusalem singlehanded! (the city was empty - there was no garrison!)

    What a crusader!!

    Cheers,

hehe did the same with my danes.
I was at war with HRE and was just outside one of their cities.
The next turn HRE got excommunicated and since the pope was danish I got him to call a crusade against that city.
Give me 5 nice crusader troops that are served good as a meatwall so I didn't have to waste my danish troops.

I had a pretty quick crusade against Tunis as Sicily.

I believe it only lasted one or two turns...

My quickest crusade was just 1 turn. I sailed an army from Venice to Jerusalem, got the pope to declare a crusade, and then sent my full stack with a few catapults against the tiny rebel garrison there. The pope loved me after that.

The real game KILLER in this MTW-II is the small garisons. I took Antioch and Jerusalem with just a general and a couple of infantry units. Their garrisons consisted of a grand total of 1 unit. This has turned me off this game big time. I hope this gets fixed in the patch.

I had the same problem on medium, try harder settings and the AI will place more units at bordering castles/cities.

Edit: Oh and on topic: All my crusades have lasted well over 10 turns.

No, it wont. I play on VH/VH and Jerusalem was empty (no garrison) when I took it on crusade.

No it doesn't. I've played multiple campaigns on VH/VH and I have never seen more than 4 units in Jersualem after a crusade has been called. Same goes for most of my enemies border towns. Maybe they fortify their towns better late game or something, but the first 100 turns the game is just a cakewalk due to low garrisoned cities.

hmmm I've never seen any crusade toward any christian factions in my current campaign (even if they're excommunicated).....and I never joined any crusades since I'm too busy waging war with neighbours

Hehe, I used fast crusades against the Moors as Spain. I just moved my army next to Cordoba and asked for a crusade to justify my plans.. And I captured it the very same turn. Now I have a monopoly over crusades, I ask it every time I can, and no one gets to target before me.

Fastest Crusade? Less than one turn. I was at war with Milan, and I decided to take Genoa and Milan in retribution. I didn't care about excommunication myself at this point.

So I moved my armies to the bridge point between Milan and Genoa along with another general and siege equipment. Here, I end my turn to await either an attack, or to launch an attack easily next turn.

Turns out, the Milanese did something in their turn and got excommunicated. Furthermore, a crusade was called on Milan.

Piously, I took the cross. I took half of my siege equipment and army with the other general, joined the crusade with him, and recruited pilgrims to fill in the gaps in my two new armies. I than made a short walk to Genoa and Milan and took them easily.

Crusade was over before anyone esle could join.

When there is no garrison, you walk through the gates.
