    Default Regarding Tier V Buildings

Recently there was a post on the 2D preview thread on various buildings and artwork. This makes me think of the unique tier V buildings for some factions in Rome II and Attila which have unique effects, icons and tile in the campaign map like the Imperial Palace for Romans and Warlords Castle for The Franks. Perhaps there can be such tier V buildings in this mod like the Canals of Venice for the Republic of Venice, Hagia Sophia for Byzantine successors, Notre Dame for Byzantine successors and maybe The Kaaba in Mecca. I hope you guys have plans to do something similar to this. Great job on the units and every new idea for the campaign only exponentially increases my hype.

    Good luck.

Actually St. Sophia in Constantinople was built in 537 AD. If we include architectural achievements must be from the period 13-15 century. It should also be a balance - I'm afraid that some factions will be disadvantaged.
But if you have good suggestions, I will think about their involvement

Hi finix, first of all just let me say that this mod looks stunning and Medieval 2 was the game I've played the most in my life. I think you guys are doing a wonderful job with those units and all the rest.

Regarding Tier V buildings, I think Moon_Man has a very valid point. Tier V buildings add a lot of enjoyment and fulfillment to those (like me) who actually enjoy the building management part of the campaign. I loved building the Circus Maximus and the Colosseum in Emperor Edition, and I have always been a big fan of building the massive cathedrals in Medieval 2.

You mention balance. I think there could be made a case for almost all factions to include some form of Tier V building. Even 1-2 per faction (maybe just the playable ones?) would be really increasing the level of immersion in the Medieval times. I'm Italian so I'm particularly familiar with my region which I will use as an example:

Venice - Doge Palace (Palazzo Ducale)
Established in 1340, the palace is a prime example of Italian Gothic. The palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the supreme leader of the Republic.
There were traces of some form of palace as the seat of power of the Doge since the 9th century. However multiple fires destroyed them, and even the Palazzo Ducale has been affected by fire multiple times and partially reconstructed. However the 1340 version is still the one standing today.

Lombardy - Sforza Castle (Castello Sforzesco)
Built on the remainings of the residence of the Visconti family, the Castello Sforzesco was built by Francesco Sforza, the new Duke of Milan who had defeated the short lived Republic (which had defeated the Visconti).
The castle was effectively 're-built' in the 15th century, and turned into a properly fortified citadel, one of the largest in Europe. Used as the residence of the Duke, it also contained (and contains) so much art that it hosts over 10 museums inside to this day.
    Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano)
Although only completed in the mid 20th century, the Cathedral was effectively constructed between 1386 and 1577. It is the 5th largest cathedral in the world, and another stunning example of Gothic style in Northern Italy. The cathedral was started by the Visconti family while they were still in power.

Pisa - Square of Miracles (Piazza dei Miracoli)
The Piazza dei Miracoli is the highest remaining example of the power of Pisa during the Middle Ages. Built between the 12th and 14th century (it really started at the end of the 11th century but most of it was built in the 13th century), the triad of Cathedral, Baptistery and Tower (The Leaning Tower of Pisa) built in a mix of white and grey marble by some of the most gifted Italian artists of the time, the Nicola and Giovanni Pisano, and Cimabue. The long delay was due to the continues wars with neighbours Lucca and Genova, but also funded with the sackings of those wars.

I could go on but I think you got the point! All those buildings took centuries to build and were incredibly expensive, so no reason not to do the same here. So really any of the advantages would only be visible during the late game.
    A couple of comments:

    - although specific to the city they were built in, I am not 100% aware of how the mechanic works in the game. You can build them only in your capital? You could build them anywhere? I would think in general I would think this should be faction specific and not city specific (I believe that's what it is anyway?)

    - Wonders: is there any plan to include wonders in the game? I was thinking this because in the Middle Ages relics, religious artifacts and architectural wonders really shaped the imagery of the average peasant. I know wonders are implemented in the original campaigns, is this something hard-coded or can they be modified/changed? I would have some ideas about this, like for example the Horses of Saint Mark in Venice, that the Venetian stole from Constantinople during the sacking of the 4th Crusade.

I have seen on the map thread that you guys are working on characters creation and faction buildings. I would be real keen to help if you guys want a hand with those.

I definitely want unique buildings /Tier V/ can be constructed only in certain cities and certain factions. It should be checked whether the mechanics of the game allows it. In this aspect I found the Second Bulgarian Kingdom such a unique building/Tier V/ - Bachkovo Monastery.

    The Bachkovo Monastery
can be build in Philippopolis from Bulgarians. The monastery was founded in 1083 by byzantines but later reconstructed during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom
And is still there. Bonuses may be - a huge progress of religion and the influence
