u'll have to hang on for 4/5 turns whilst ur empire is Annihilated by the plague ;-) ur economy will collapse and ur cahsflow vanish just like in medieval times :-) Keep ur characters and armies away from the infected cities or they too will suffer heavy casualties... set ur city management to growth and construct health/farm buildings... good luck

It's a pretty nasty business, I dread it coming like .... well, like the plague.

Your economy gets really messed up for a while, and you often lose a few family members.

A good idea is to use spies and ensure your enemies get it too.

damn that sucks. i had that too. although you seem to have more characters affected by it.

my tip is to move your generals/princes/governors/king out of the cities and into individual forts. also don't move out any units of the infected cities. then just wait out the plague.

Actually that is what happened in real life, the nobility abandoned the cities and moved to the countryside.

What areas get affected most by the plague? I am playing Byzantium, does Greece, Asia minor and the holy land get affected badly?

When you get the plague is coming warning, move ALL of your best units/armies out of ALL the cities/Fortresses, it's best if you can put them on ships, and leave just a few 'sacrificial' peasants 'holding the fort' - I have found this saves a huge amount of troop replesishment slots once the plague is over...

however, by saving all your expensive units, you quickly go broke. i find it convenient to have them reduced proportionally.

Does the plague usually spread quite evenly over Europe, Asia and North Africa? or are some places effected worse than others?.

The first time I witnessed the plague happen was when I was playing as England and had control of all of western Europe but didn't really have any spies in eastern Europe, North Africa or Asia... so I couldn't see how badly the plague effected them.

When I received the message about the plague coming I did what jegui said, evacuated the castles and cites of the king, heir, generals, agents and any expensive elite units, just leaving a cheap militia/peasant garrison to bare the brunt of the plague until it died down.
