Icon5 Questions on How Attila is Used.

Hey there! First off the scope of this mod is amazing, well done.

    1) I had some questions about how the Attila assets are being used. As a DeI player in Rome 2 I recognize a lot of the textures, but from the previews I was not able to tell if any of the assets are being used from Attila such as the newer textures, faces, beards, armours, etc. Basically I'm wondering if the higher quality textures and graphics Attila provides is going to see any implementation or if assets from Rome 2 are being copied over them entirely. I was also wondering if textures that are ported over to Attila from Rome 2 look better. Like, if a chest piece looks better in Attila than it did in Rome 2. Not sure if that is tied only to textures or if it has to do with Attila's better engine.

    2) Will any of the selling points for Attila be lost in the transition? I know you've implemented the family trees and army traditions, but what about creating settlements/destroying them or the camp feature?

Thank you for taking the time to look at this and I apologize if these questions have been asked before!

Well we didn't ported anything from Rome 2.All vanilla armour weapon for the most part AFAIK.
Now porting from Rome 2 to attila the quality is the same but the graphics in Attila makes it better -example shining armour to the sun.

The new playable factions will be settled with regions and won't migrate due to historical reasons. The Avars migrated in Pannonia in the 570s and the Bulgars in the 660-80s and that's it.

Now the new factions will get eastern cities due to the 600 +- years of persian cultural influence. Only the magyars got Barbarian culture. Now the garrisons will be focused on cavalry mainly because they were nomads and more interesting city battles.

About modding the family tree it's 5 min editing at max.
And we won't dumb down the features in Attila. For the rest that's submods for.

Just a question, what is it that you mean by the 'camp' feature? Also just look at the screens and videos we've made of the units using mostly Rome 2 models and textures.

Apologies, what I mean by the camp feature is when an army encamps and is able to build buildings. I have looked at the previews which had made me wonder if any of the new textures/faces/beards/armours from Attila were going to be used as I saw only ones from Rome 2. I can understand not using armour that was from the Dark Ages of course, but there are a lot of nice furrs/armour/Eastern garb that is appropriate for the Ancient Empires time period, and certainly the newer faces and beards are desirable and fitting for the time.

We use a lot of assets from DeI. In Attila they do look better, Attila has better lighting and effects, which means any object looks better than it did in Rome 2.

Yeah it got all to do with the engine "all vanilla assets, models, textures" are from the same quality as those from RTW II it's because Atilla is a updated version of Rome 2.

We will have hordes, yes. Our nomadic factions will be hordes, we may have a horde nomadic faction. In a few cases we will attempt to have some civilized hordes stand in for missing settlements with a few twists to hopefully make that work appropriately.

Can you create unlimited amounts of new factions like you did in Rome 2? I always wondered if you could convert the hordes into unrepresented minor cities somehow. It would likely be impossible for the minor cities to have building abilities so the bonuses would be fixed.

Yes, we can make unlimited new factions (and in AE, all the factions are made from scratch - not modified from Attila ones).

Also, yes, I believe that in theory we could make hordes into minor cities, like city-states. However, I believe that these "cities" wouldn't be able to be inhabited by other factions... I'd need to research there. Perhaps it'd be possible to make them into a subservient client state-like faction after defeating their city?

The horde will disappear as soon as you defeat that army or if that faction settles down upon conquest of an actual settlement. No way around those two points through DB editing.

Hordes as factions and settlements is a very imperfect solution. We are going to give a go, but it's not something I'd want to overdo.
