Third Age Crashes

So I followed the instructions set out for steam users, but when I launch the third age campaign (disguised as the teutonic campaign) it shows the first image of third age total war then immediately just ends the process and I start off back in steam with no app running. How do I solve this? Did I do something wrong? I have not been able to play yet and I really want to.

What Windows do you have? Did you download and install TATW 3.0 both parts, and TATW 3.2 Patch?

I have windows 7 and I did not install TATW 3.0 as it said to just download the 3.2 patch and it would be fine, but I will do that now

Just tried doing it, but my computer says there is "malicious" software in it and is blocking it

I'm actually having this exact same problem, right down to swapping TATW with teutonic and only installing patch 3.2. I get as far as the Third Age splash screen, and then the game CTDs. I tried installing 3.0 part one and two, but the installation always fails. Seriously, every single time. Each time I re-download part 1, I start installing it and get a message saying that such and such a file contains invalid data. If I start again without re-downloading, it's always the same file with "invalid data" however, each time I have re-downloaded, it'a a different file with "invalid data", always before even 1% completion.

That means you are multitasking on your PC while downloading files. Start downloading and turn off any other program(game, music, movie, even your AntiVirus). Alternatively, you can download torrent files.
