    Default Battle flags

    Just noticed this:

I wonder if its realistic/historical, all those flags? MTW/2 certainly have them in abundance. Personally I enjoy them in any case. Just thought someone might like to comment.

I could be prity acurate, I mean the solders came from the lands of lots of diferant lords and each could have a baner of his own. The only thing that bothers me about the baners in the game is when they blow around in the wind there are no two blowing in the same direction.

I think that there were less flags and banners in the real time.
Most knights had a shield with a personal sign.

I guess that's the problem with coming to these forums, they give you things to bother about

I like the flags in M2TW it tells me how experienced a unit is.

Those smaller flags that are sometimes on a unit represent experience and weapon upgrades, one flag = 1EXP point or 1 weapon upgrade.

Thus a fully upgraded unit will have lots of the smaller flags.

    Hope this helps

The number of flags represents the experience level and armour/weapon upgrades. There doesn't appear to be any consistency as to which banners represent what, but if there is it's not documented.

I don't think the baners repersent armor or wepons upgrades. I have frequently participated in custom battles with fully upgraded units with full experiance and units with no upgrades and just full experiance, to see what the diferance in aperance is, and both units had just the 6 flags for experiance.

I enjoy the flags sometimes.. I think they would have been better if they had a unit carrying them

banners do not represent armor/weapon upgrades- the armor you SEE and weapons they carry represent that.

the flags are strictly 1 flag= 1 chevron from what I have seen. So my 2 gold knights carry 8 flags... and they look suitably... uh...festive doing so.

The flags look horrendous laid over the actual gameworld if you ask me, so I turn them off. It's not very immersive to see giant hovering poles over the heads of my men, especially when they no longer fade away when you zoom in, like they did in Rome (who knows why they don't). If we're to have banners then have banner-bearer's for the love of God.

I love the new medieval flags, one of the features I was really looking forward to. Hopefully one day, someone will create new sets of realistic faction flags.
