What is the reason behind the First Cohort being a 200 man unit?
It has double strength (400) in my version.

Following the Marian Reforms Roman legions were composed of ten cohorts. The most prestigious among these was the first cohort or Cohors Prima. It was double in stength compared to the other nine cohorts. so i assume the DEI team made this decision in order to help reflect the realistic composition of real Roman legions.

Sorry but its. Duble strenght First cohort appears during Principate (after Caesar Augustus Imperial army reform) ... during Late republic all 10 cohorts have same "official" strenght of 480 men at arms + 20 men of non-combat crew
Woops my mistake, You are correct! I had forgotten that the doubled strength of first cohorts wasn"t introduced until the imperial reforms under Augustus, thanks for the correction!
