    Default PC Specs and Turn Times

    Hey folks,
    So I was just curious, what are the specs of the PC you’re playing on and what kind of turn times are you getting? My old PC is basically KIA and I’m looking to build/buy a new one. EBII and Stainless Steel are pretty much the 2 most demanding games(well, mods) I play (not into the new games so much. Besides, they’re not as good as either of those ). It’d be nice to kind of get a general idea of what’s required and what would be overkill, so I’m not throwing money away. This is my old PC and turn times:

    CPU: Intel Pentium 4 - 1.8Ghz, Single Core (Yes, 1 core)

    RAM: 1GB, no idea what Mhz or DDR.

    GPU: PNY GeForce 6200, 256MB, DDR.

    OS: Windows XP, Service Pack 2.

    Turn Times: 7-10 Min, depending on # of factions alive, where I am in the game, etc.

    As for FPS, I’m not sure. I’ve got settings as low as they go (except res. that’s 1280x1024), but I’m guessing somewhere in the range of 15-20 for battles and potato for campaign map (seriously, it’s bad).

    I have a feeling most anything available for purchase these days will be more than sufficient. I’m just so tired of growing a beard while waiting for my turn to come around, I want to be 100% certain.
    I appreciate any input.

    7-10 minutes... how can you play like this ?

    Every modern desktop CPU will handle this in less than a minute. I played this game on a notebook with low voltage Core i5 CPU for several years and turn times were between 1 and 2 minutes max. (even after 100 turns). If you go for new hardware any budget CPU will do it, Intel Core i3/Pentium or AMD Athlon for example. For the GPU you can go for a Radeon R7 360 or Nvidia GTX950, this is enough to max. out all settings with AA/AF on FHD.

    Well, I'd have a book next to the PC, and every time I ended a turn, I'd read a few pages. So I guess it wasn't all bad!

    That's what I was kind of wondering. From the sounds of it, I don't really need to go all-out on the hardware then! I'm guessing the vast majority of GPUs these days will be more than enough;
    about 5-6 years ago I got my hands on an old Dell Dimension that I played games like AOE3 and vanilla versions of MTW2 and RTW on max graphics without a hitch. And I'm pretty sure the GPU in it wasn't all that great. Then the MB died. Aaaaanyways...thanks for your answer, at least now I have a little direction! (:
