Default Where are all the historical characters?

As the title says, I'm quite curious about this.

I saw quite a few historical characters as Rome (grand campaign) in the beginning of my campaign, but it's been many turns now without a sign of any. I mean, vanilla has quite a few historical characters from the republic to empire era. Are they just not included in DEI? I'm at year 215 B.C. and was expecting Scipio Africanus to be a recruitment option, as he was in vanilla.

So, has anyone else gotten historical characters, or are they just not in DEI? Or could something have gone wrong with my playthrough?

They are not guaranteed spawns even in vanilla if I remember. We haven't done anything to them, but most games you won't get to the time periods of the majority of the characters due to 4TPY.

Here's my question. As Carthage is Hannibal of the Barcid family or Hannibal Barca of the Magonid family the actual Hannibal? Or neither?

Neither! You get those two in the beginning of the game, 272 BC; Hannibal is born in 247 BC. I just played a Carthage mp campaign and was taken aback for a few minutes lol. The Carthaginians had like 11 names total so this makes sense.

Even the starting characters are not always historical. For example Egypt has an 18 year-old Ptolemy as the starting general in the Imperator Augustus campaign, even though the Ptolemy in question never existed.

Thanks for the replies. However, I am still wondering if any players have encountered any of these historical characters during the later play of campaigns. Some anecdotal evidence would clear up if it's even possible to get the historical characters later on. If not, I suspect that the 4tpy could be messing with this.

Yes, you can get the historical characters but its a spawn window that isn't guaranteed if I remember correctly. The way 4TPY messes with this is that very few people play to 100 BC, which is when a lot of the Roman historical figures start popping.

Hey Dresden! Is there a way to edit the names of the starting characters? I just want to make some light modifications to fix some errors in the starting rosters of the IA campaign.

Sure, just edit the names.loc text file.

Thanks. Also great job with the mod to you and the rest of the team. This game is so much fun with it installed. I've been meaning to write up a great experience I had playing as the Arevaci, but I haven't had the time. Maybe in a week or so... Anyway thanks for all of the hard work that you and the rest of the DEI crew have poured into this mod.
