    Default Playable Ottomans Idea

So in the mod the Ottomans are planned to be an emergent faction. (Side note there could be other Turkish Beyliks as emergent factions. Like the Aydinids, Mentese, Eretnids etc.)

The idea is if the mod uses the Age of Charlemagne mechanic where a faction changes its name when it meets certain requirements. The faction would be a horde faction named the Kayı tribe. This tribe was ruled by Osman's father and grandfather. At the time of the mod Osman's grandfather Suleyman Shah ruled the tribe but was said to have died in 1236 by drowning in the Euphrates in northern Syria. He was successor Ertugrul would lead his forces along with his son Osman to ally with the Sultanate of Rum and would set the stage for Osman to take Nicaea and found the Ottoman Empire.

Kayı tribe would be a horde faction starting in Mesopotamia. They would have regular Turkish units and would gain access to more Ottoman style units like Sipahis when settled. To form the Ottomans, the faction would have to take Nicaea and Ancyra.

I think that could work and would satisfy anyone who wants to play as the ottomans. Might have to change the initial faction name to something more interesting but that would be a cool faction addition. Hopefully the makers of the mod see this post and implement it into the mod.

Didnt Rome in Rome II have an option to "Form Empire" or "keep the republic" when a certain faction goal was met? Could that potentially be implemented here?
August Strindberg: "There's a view, current at the moment even among quite sensible people, that women, that secondary form of humanity (second to men, the lords and shapers of human civilisation) should in some way become equal with men, or could so be; this is leading to a struggle which is both bizarre and doomed. It's bizarre because a secondary form, by the laws of science, is always going to be a secondary form. Imagine two people, A (a man) and B (a woman). They start to run a race from the same point, C. A (the man) has a speed of, let's say, 100; B (the woman) has a speed of 60. Now, the question is 'Can B ever overtake A?" and the answer is 'Never!'. Whatever training, encouragement or self-denial is applied, the proposition is as impossible as that two parallel lines should ever meet."

Seems a bit forced to me - what are the Kayi tribe going to do for the 87 years of the mod before the Ottoman Empire was founded?

Also this essentially removes the Ottomans from the mod unless they are a playable faction, as when the Kayi horde is controlled by the AI they will invariably never achieve the conditions to found the Ottomans and will probably end up dying out way too early.

It does indeed seem forced when other horde factions are big multi-tribal blobs (Tatars, Mongols) or factions not present on the map (Norway). The only parallel I could draw are the Marinids in Morocco, but they came into conflict with the Almohads around the time of the mod's starting date and brought end to the Almohads relatively quickly, so their inclusion has more merit than including pre-Ottomans. The only viable way of making Ottomans playable would be to create a late era submod, with the Ottomans at least controlling Bithynia.

It would be great to play as one of those beyliks...

That would be the great thing about a 1300AD start - the ERE would control Nicaea and Nymphaion (renamed Smyrna), Trebizond would control Trebizond, Seljuks would have Ikonion and Caesarea; and Cilicia would have Tarsus.

That would leave Cyzicus, Attatelia, Dorylaion, Rhodes and Sinope for Turkish beyliks, giving a huge amount of variety in that region, and also the potential to have historically relevant hordes fighting for control. Personally I think that's a much better option, otherwise there will just be loads of ahistoric hordes wandering around the east, needlessly weakening all the Islamic nations.

the Marinids lived like bedouins at the start of the mod in the southern lands of Almohads, however Hafsids and Zyanids were part of Almohads and became independent when Almohad weakened so Madinids can be represented as horde faction while Hafsid and Zyanids as rebel Almohad factions .same thing about Ottomans, they were part of Rum Seljuks and became independent when the Seljuk weakened so I think rum seljuks should have access to ottoman units as late era units.

This option also gets me itching inside!

It would certainly be awesome to play as a beylik who has just fought off a Mongol invasion, perhaps alliancing or confederating to move westward into those heathen Christian lands
