    Default Couple of noob questions...

Couldn't find these answers anywhere so sorry if these are a repeat...

What does it mean when a banner flashes green during a battle?

Is there a point to flinging cows with the trebuchet?

Is there no more boiling oil for the gatehouses? I have men on the walls and the two gatehouse towers are occupied.

Lastly, is there any advantage/disadvantage to using fire arrows with archers against troops? Obviously they can destroy siege equipment, but they are automatically on when in a night battle, for what reason, other than the pretty graphics?

Green flashing banners: The unit is being affected by the "stink cloud" of a rotting cow carcass, and suffers combat penalties.

    Flinging cows: See above

Boiling oil: Was removed, although it is unclear whether this is because of a bug or done on purpose (contrary to popular belief, burning oil was seldomly used in the middle ages as oil was a pretty rare resource)

Fire arrows: The rate of fire decreases, but when fire arrows hit, they cause additional morale damage to the enemy.

They used to pour all sorts on attackers though. Boiling water, burning hot sand, etc... The feature should still be in there, with lesser fortifications using weaker materials, and only the strongest fortifications using oil.

    Know only 2 answers:
    -no boiling oil
-fire arrows less accurate-take more morale from enemy... they brake faster

Addition because it just happened again,

How the hell do you increase a general's piety so inquisitors stop killing my field generals?

The green flashing banner means they have been affected by the cows that you mention being flung about. i think it means they've been poisoned and reduces their morale.

There doesn't seem to be any boiling oil, don't know if it was ever supposed to be in or was taken out at somke point.

Flaming arrows also have a morale reducing effect on the enemy, but I also think it reduces their accuracy or something similar.

EDIT: questions answered more accurately above.

Difficult question, been debated already, but I don't think I've seen a definitive answer yet. Theories include building churches, going on crusades and keeping good relations with the Pope.

    Thought of another one...

What exactly is the advantage of building Nubian archers over Desert archers as Egypt? They cost more than Deserts but yet I don't see an advantage...

    Desert Archers:

    Melee: 6
    Missle: 7
    Defense: 6
    Charge: 1

Long range, VG STA, Combat bonus in deserts and flaming missles..

    Nubian Archers:

    Melee: 7
    Missle: 7
    Defense: 4
    Charge: 2

    Long range, flaming missles

I thought that flaming arrows though less accurate and a slower rate of fire had not only a greater morale effect but also caused more damage...whatever that means in gameplay terms.
