At the end I will post the starting Diplomacy

Now To the Family trees of the Factions in the Balkans and Asia Minor and Starting Armies.

    1)Second Bulgarian Tzarsdom Initial Challenge:Hard

    Ruling party:
Boril Asen - Ruler - place him with a 5 units with 75% health army in the capital Turnovo
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boril_of_Bulgaria

Anna Annisia - Queen - She was also the queen of the deceased Tzar Kaloyan in 1207.She had 2 kids from Tzar Kaloyan before he died and Boril Asen became Tzar - a boy Vitleem and a girl Maria.

    Other Nobles:
Strez - probably Boril's brother - place him with a 5 units with 50% health army in Skopia
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strez

Alexius Slav - Boril's cousin - place him with a 5 units with 50% health army between the cities of Thessaloniki and Philippopolis in the mountain pass in Sredets region.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexius_Slav

    Alexander Asen - Boril's cousin - 20 years old
    https://bg.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%90...81%D0%B5%D0%BD

Ivan Asen II - Boril's cousin - 23 years old
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Asen_II_of_Bulgaria

Make all of them with low loyalty.

Make Strez and Alexius Slav younger than Boril and older than Ivan Asen II and Alexander Asen.

As for the Vassals of Bulgaria Moldova and Wallachia - there are no known local nobles to be put to the family trees of those 2 vassal factions. For those factions I rate their Initial Challenge: Very Hard for both ,for the player and CAI

    2)Serbia Initial Challenge: Very Hard

    Ruling party:
Stefan I (the First-Crowned) - Ruler - 47 years old - place him with a 5 units with 75% health army in Nish
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan_the_First-Crowned

Eudokia Angelina (or Eudocia Angelina) - wife of Stefan I - 38 years old - died in 1211
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eudokia_Angelina

Stefan Radoslav - 20 years old - son
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan_Radoslav_of_Serbia

Stefan Vladislav - 14 years old - son
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan...slav_of_Serbia

    Saint Sava II/Predislav - 12 years old - son
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sava_II

Give Serbia at a start a the priest ''Saint Sava I'' between the 2 Serbian regions.Sava was the brother of Stefan I
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Sava

For other Nobles - haven't researched yet.

    3)Despotate of Epirus
    Initial Challenge: Very Hard

    Other Nobles:
Gérard de Strřm - I got no Information for him, only that he was the duke of Duchy of Philippopolis from 1208 to 1221/8 ad - place him with a 5 units with 50% health army in Philippopolis.

I didnt Added some known political players in the Latin empire Due to their Absence in the Latin empire in 1212 and they were in Western Europe in 1212ad and not in the Balkans.

5)Kingdom of Thessalonica Initial Challenge: Hard

    Ruling party:
Demetrius of Montferrat - Ruler - 18 years old - in reality he was still 7 years old,but due to Attila's Family tree the game bugs out if at the start of a campaign the faction leader is a kid and the fame crashes. So its a good middleground the faction leader to be 18 years old.In Vannila Attila Creative Assembly put both Faction leaders of ERE and WRE as grown ups,not as teenagers as faction leaders. So I dont see problem here for this case.

There may be more info for the Sultanate of Rum and the Zengids, but i didnt had time to dig around for more.

Now With the depleted armies/units the idea is to simulate the Depletion of the man power in the Balkans and Asia Minor Because there was some never ending wars and this also will help no1 to rush the first few turns the neighboring enemies in the region and all factions to be Balanced in the area and have Fare share when fighting for survival...The Balance also takes into Account my proposal of giving the Latin empire the region of Cyzicus by taking it From Nicaean Empire.

If I missed some important info Say it guys.

As for the Rest of the Map I think there have to be at least 2-3 updates more to the starting Campaign map with the starting factions, because the last update was in February 2016 and there were lots of changes on the Campaign map in some areas.
I'm quoting this post because I would like to call attention to how incredibly helpful this post was for campaign modding work. We could use some of this for other parts of the map too, so if anyone else wants to chip in with other areas do post it in this thread. It will help speed things along for us.

This was a quick list I threw together from what I could remember. Not sure what you're looking for, does this help?

Kingdom of Jerusalem and Cyrpus Notable families

King (for the purposes of the mod, we'll go with the King of Jerusalem, since the King of Cyprus had even less real power)
    John I of Brienne

Successor: This gets complex because after he lost his title to the throne, Frederick II became King of Jerusalem, which would not work for the purposes of the game. so at this point I think it would be best to switch to the Cypriot King, either Hugh I of Cyprus, who died in 1218, or Henry I of Cyprus

Notable families: Ibelins, Embriacos, Montforts, Lusignans, Greniers, Tiberias

    Notables:
-Raoul of Tiberias, Prince of Galilee
-John d'Ibelin, Lord of Beirut (at times regent of Cyprus, Jerusalem, and served as constable for both)
-Philip of Montfort, lord of Tyre
-Walter Grenier, Lord of Caesarea and Constable of Jerusalem
-Walter of Montbeliard (at one time Regent of Cyprus)
    -Hugh Embriaco, Lord of Gibiletto
-Guerin of Montagiu, Master of the Hospital
-William of Chartres, Master of the Temple

    Diplomacy:
Almohads: at war with Castile, Aragon, Navarre, Portugal
    DIPLOMACY:

    PORTUAL: Difficulty Hard
Very bad relation with the Papacy
    WAR: Almohads
ARMY: On the border between Toledo and Murcia with 10 units at 75%
    FAMILY: Week family loyalty
//The first years of his reign were marked instead by internal disturbances between Afonso II
//and his brothers and sisters. The king managed to keep security within Portuguese borders
//only by outlawing and exiling his kin.
TRADE: Unsure but maybe England, France, Provence, Pisa, Sicily and Venice
//Afonso II also sent ambassadors to European kingdoms outside the Iberian Peninsula and began
//amiable commercial relations with most of them.

    CASTILLE: Difficulty Normal
    Good relation with Aragon
Poor relation with Navarre //Castille conquered some lands a few years prior that belonged to Navarre
    WAR: Almohads
ARMY: On the border between Toledo and Murcia with 10 units at 75%
    ALLIANCE: Aragon

    ARAGON: Difficulty Hard
    Good relation with Castille
    Good relation with the Papacy
    Very poor relation with France
    WAR: Almohads
ARMY: On the border between Toledo and Murcia with 10 units at 75%
    ALLIANCE: Castille

    NAVARRE:
Poor relation with Castille //Castille conquered some lands a few years prior that belonged to Navarre
    Poor relation with France
    Great relation with England
    WAR: Almohads
ARMY: On the border between Toledo and Murcia with 10 units at 75%
ALIANCE: Maybe with England because Sancho VII was great friends with Richard the Lionheart.
He even led a force of his own against the French to retake a Castle that belong to Richard while Richard was imprisoned in Germany on his way back home from Crusading.

//A proclamation of a Crusade was obtained from Pope Innocent III, which elicited further support
//from several French bishops, and, in the spring of 1212, contingents of French knights and
//Knights Templars began to converge on Toledo. After some delay, the Crusade set out southward
//on June 21, augmented by the armies of Aragon, Castile, and Portugal. Despite their success in
//taking two Muslim fortresses, the non-Spanish forces were soon discouraged by adverse climatic
//and living conditions and returned home. The armies of Navarre, however, were then recruited for
    //the expedition.

    ALMOHADS:
WAR: Castile, Aragon, Navarre, Portugal, also maybe with the Marinids
ARMY: Depleted force on the border between Toledo and Murcia with 20 units at 40%

    @Imperatorand and @Slytacular,

Castille, Portugual, Aragon, and Navarre had all marched against the Almohad Caliphate and defeated them at Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa in 16 July 1212.

//According to legend, the Caliph had his tent surrounded with a bodyguard of slave-warriors who were
//chained together as a defense. The Navarrese force led by their king Sancho VII broke through this
//bodyguard. The Caliph escaped, but the Moors were routed, leaving heavy casualties on the battlefield.[8]
//The victorious Christians seized several prizes of war: Miramamolín's tent and standard were delivered to Pope Innocent III.[9]

//Christian losses were far fewer, only about 2,000 men (though not as few as legend had it).
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle...avas_de_Tolosa

P.S. Most monarchs didnt have enough money to field a lot of standing armies.

//The Middle Ages military was largely disorganized. Male residents of each kingdom were drafted into service for just 40 days at a time, because to remove too many citizens from the lands would lead to loss of crops, loss of livestock, and loss of income. //The inability of the military forces to remain intact for any significant period of time prevented them from organizing and learning new skills and tactics to fight more efficiently.
    http://www.thefinertimes.com/Middle-Ages/military-in-the-middle-ages.html

This is the reason why Knights and mercenaries were so expensive. They were the only real full time soldiers.

//Many infantrymen in prolonged wars would be mercenaries.
    http://www.medievalwarfare.info/#organisation

//Typically feudal armies consisted of a core of highly skilled knights and their household troops, mercenaries hired for the time of the campaign and feudal levies fulfilling their feudal obligations, who usually were little more than rabble. They could, however, be efficient in disadvantageous terrain. Towns and cities could //also field militias.
//As central governments grew in power, a return to the citizen and mercenary armies of the classical period also began, as central levies of the peasantry began to be the central recruiting tool. It is often claimed that the best infantrymen came from the younger sons of free land-owning yeomen, such as
//the English archers and Swiss pikemen.
    http://www.medievalwarfare.info/#organisation

So depending on the wealth of the nation, they may be able to recruit and maintain larger armies. But at the begining of the campaign they are not wealthy enough to have multiple standing armies.
Maybe if there is a research tree where the Monarch gains more centralized power, and gains more wealth then they can have multiple armies.

//England was one of the most centralized states in the Middle Ages, and the armies that fought the Hundred Years' War were mostly paid professionals. In theory, every Englishman had an obligation to serve for forty days. Forty days (called quarantine) was not long enough for a campaign, especially one on the continent.
//Scutage was introduced, under which most Englishmen paid to escape their service and this money was used to create a permanent army. Almost all high medieval armies in Europe were composed of a great deal of paid core troops, and there was a large mercenary market in Europe from the early twelfth century.http://www.medievalwarfare.info/#organisation

So for example, have a research in the tech tree called Scutage.

This doesn't reflect very well the medieval warfare I think. Or do you mean they are economically capable to do so rather than that they start with that many armies?
