    Default Ambushed during AI Turn, is this intended?

    The AI just declared war on me and attacked my stack on the same turn. It was surprising the my army was ambushed: pre-battle shows the enemy stack with "?", and during battle my army was attached in a column formation.

    I thought it's only proper to set up an ambush in the Ambush stance and wait for the oponent to come, not when actively attacking?

    You most likely had your army in patrol stance.
