Stainless steel 6.4 possibly broken

This is my situation
Windows 10
Installed 6.3 and 6.4 exactly as this website says with UAC disabled and followed each step exactly
6.3 works fine but when i install 6.4 and start the set up and select a campaign either early or late, it says error unable to write file , and unable to write file in campaign or something.
Other M2tw mods work like rise of three kingdoms, third age, rage of dark gods
I installed and reinstalled vanilla game and mods and re downloaded the mod files to see if maybe it was corrupted but still nothing, any help

run ss_setup.exe as 'run as adminstrator' via right click. should fix the issue.

If running as admin still gives you this error got to your Medieval II mods folder, right click on SS6.3 -> Properties and uncheck the attribute "Read-only". In the upcoming dialog select to apply this change for all subfolder and files. Another problem could be your anti-virus software, make sure that ss_setup is not running in some kind of sandbox.

This is probably late...but you don't need a fresh install.

my situation is this
i have windows 10
i got ss 6.4 and followed and read with a guy on steam about changing the file name of the mod to a campaign of dlc and switching the file of the campaign to something else. this was because making a duplo of the .exe file to kingdoms.exe wouldnt work. well it was workign but i started to ctd. and now its running slow and then eventaully ctd.
