Can't install Kingdoms on a External Hard Drive

Like the title says, I can't seem to install the Kingdoms expansion on to an external Hard drive. I was able to install vanilla Medieval II without any problems, but Kingdoms doesn't give me an option to select a drive. I'm convinced it's look for it on the C drive, and if I can find a way for it to detect my F (external hard drive), I'll be fine. First it said:

Cannot determine the installed game language for Medieval II Total War: Kingdoms.

I then tried to update using a patch from the Kingdoms installation CD, but got this error:

The setup has detected that no version of Medieval II...is installed


My Specs are:

Processor: 6th generation Intel Core i5-6400
Operating system: Windows 10 Home
Memory (RAM): 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3
Hard drive: 1TB (7200RPM) SATA
Video graphics: Intel HD Graphics 530.
