    Default Bad governors and generals

    Ive got a problem.

Basically all my family members have become corrupt and greedy bastards. I suppose it has something to do with me being atrociously rich, but wth? Now that my main general is about to die (59yrs old) im having trouble finding a new one. Traits lowering troop morale most often follows the penalty-on-income traits. Not to mention that i often find that its better to have no governor in certain citys, than having a corrupt bastard as governor.

My question is; how can i prevent my family becoming useless?

good luck with that it´s nearly impossible because of the bloodline.

But you can prevent bad generals from being married.. just say no.
i haven´t had trouble with bad morale traits so could you tell me some names of thoose traits? i would be most graceful

Well, i dont actually have any bad-morale-traits, bad-morale-retinues however... Should have been more specific with that one. Retinues like "Foreign fruitcake", "adultress" and "mother-in-law" seems are the most common bad retinues ive got. :S

I should probably have been a little more careful with building my family. Most of the men married to my princesses are stuck with the "wife's a wretch" trait, cus all my princesses has been hideous. I dont understand how ive gotten all of those negative-income-traits though. Do they pop up wherever ive got a city bringing in lots of money? Well, how can i fight that?

The suggestion of trying to get a man of the hour to lead my army is a darn good one. Thanks!

Yea, I find that trying to build any kind of useful family line is tedious and nigh impossible. Especially because you can't get rid of ancillaries or move them anymore. I wish there was some list of all the traits and their triggers so I might know what to do or not do.

    Here's some suggestions:

Put half your layabout family onto a ship and fight some pirates. When you have few enough family members you'll start getting adoption candidates and 'man of the hour' awards.

Send a young'un on a crusade/jihad, and attack every eligible city on the way (remember you don't get desertion if you stay to pacify a recently captured city, but you have to build your siege equipment in one turn and attack the next). Pull down the captured settlements and give the remains as gifts to your friend-states (they'll get a free garrison too, which will promptly be thrown out by rebels and left to wander back home causing all sorts of fun on the way).

If you make sure your Religion structures are more advanced than your Brothel/inn structures you'll vastly reduce the lapse in quality of your family.
