Gotta love CA promo images...never end up making into the actual game. Remember RTW's gorgeous promo landscapes?

maybe that place was just crawling with bugs, because it actually looks quite ingame & done to me... they'll have their reasons for taking it out

ive had a few battles that looked a bit like that, although much less height and no castle/town at the top, but yes infantry would have to navigate a mountain path of sorts.

Well the historical battle seige is very similar to this in that infantry have to walk up a narrow path. Not much different. Doesnt this castle exist anywhere? Perhaps noone has found it yet?

The image looks beautiful, but in-game, I really don't want to walk up my army on that path.

Perhaps it was made by the in-game battle editor or no one found this castle yet, who knows. This can be re-created anyway if it's not in the campaign. Looks sort of unrealistic also.

How the heck will you take that? Maybe the AI had huge problems taking it and they decided it would unbalance the game. Maybe it could be defended by a guy with a moderately size rock and they decided it was no fun for anyone for anyone to possess that castle.

When i think of it, it looks like Masada in Israel, climbed it a couple of times and the picture looks like the ramp that the Romans built to break into Masada during the Bar Kockva revolt...

Those saracen infantry. Are they even ingame?!?!?!?

Haven't found them in custom battle. But then again, custom battle seems borked.

hehe none of those units made it into the game.
The heaviest danish knight don't have that armor and the turks don't have those units either.
    Too bad really
But that's the way it is sometimes

I can imagine why they took it out if it was ever in the campaign map.

AI would have a hard enough time with that hill and the pathfinding problems don't help.

The units look like crap in that picture too. The Danes have Gothic Knights

The battle editor seems very flexible and open-ended from what I've read, I'm sure a mod could re-create that kind of a landscape.

I think you can give Chivalric Knights an armour upgrade and they end up looking like that, im not sure though.

There's a map_jerusalem.wfc in the e3_campaign_demo\custom_tiles folder that gives a mountain that sortof looks like it when I tried it copied over a standard custom battle map.wfc, so I guess this one could be recreated, with a bit of work.

Didn't CA pump the feature of "Exotic, expansive new environments to battle in!".....That was one of the most exiting things I was looking forward to in the game ...gg CA.

After this one battle I had in a forest/mountain with a village on top I'd say that feature made it in. It was amazing. It looked like a villa on top of a small mountain/large hill and I raced up to it and set up cannons/longbowmen and fired down upon the climbing Milanese.

It was beautiful...culverine cannon explosions...arrows raining all over the place. Quite a one-sided battle though.

True, first one is like what you describe, only in this case JUST outside the battlefield, alas.

Second one, the whole battle took place *inside* some gorgeous mountain village - best battle I had so far in M2- no pathfinding problems whatsoever, fortunately, and the map I used was bumpier than vanilla, btw.
