Default Textures not loading - need help

    Hello everyone,

I just wanted to start playing Rome again and got this mod recommended together with some other mods, but once I activate DeI and start a game, all textures look somewhat fuzzy.

Here is a link to some screenshots:

I have actually no clue why this is happening and how I can fix it, but I already tried the following things:
    1. different mod installations, steam <-> standalone. Did not show any difference (why should it, to be honest)
    2. Using the mod loader and changing the order the mods are loaded. Did not work, game was not starting at all.
    3. Removing all other mods and just running DeI. Textures are still broken.
    4. Changing the file names with the hope that the loading order is determined by file name. Did not work or is not the case.
    5. Tried the official sub mod for the legions. Did not change anything.
    6. The other way around, enabling all other mods and gemfx, which looked awesome, but then again does not give any hint why DeI is changing things one activated
So over all it seems to me like once i activate the mod, it just stops loading the correct textures and puts 'something' on the models.

Hopefully someone has any idea what the issue could be.

Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Otha

P.s.: I accidently posted this first in the submods forum, but right now I am actually not sure where the right place is, so sorry to the mods if i ed up :/

Default extreme settings. But changing texture or unit settings didnt result in any change.

Hmm, because your ground textures look like they are on the lowest settings. Have you tried to verify game cache? Also when you tried steam version you had all 6 packs and when you tried standalone you had 2 packs loaded in Steam Mod Manager?

What do you mean by verifying the game cache? About the settings, yes, would agree that it looks like its set to low, but I i double and triple checked and changed the settings in game, but nothing happened. Yes, I had both or all 6 filex and all correctly enabled. I am pretty sure the mod is loading as well, because on the one hand, it causes this issue and on the other hand I notice that loading takes longer.

Well, your units seem to have vanilla unit size which is odd. Are you playing on max units size settings too? Because hastati should have 200, not 160. You can verify game catche by right cliking on Rome 2 in your steam game library and go into properities, then local filex and check integrity of game files. Do you have unlimited memory ticked on or off? Could you also post your screenshot fo your graphic settings just to be sure?

Well, the game looks exactly like on your screens if you do not enable it, because it ignores you ingame settings and even if you have top graphic card like me, without it, the game will look similar.

Just enable it and it will solve all your problems

You are right.... It fixed it and I am a retard, additionally it rly makes sense to have this enabled, as the game probably just found more texture data then it thought my grapicscard can take and then just loads nothing. Thanks a lot sir

And a small note to point 1,2 and 4.
    1. The standalone version is often more stable than the steam version (though in this case there would ofc be no difference)
    2. The mod loader? You cannot change the load order with the steam version and I wouldnt recommend using any other
    4. Mods/files are loaded according to their file name. And they are sorted in alphabetical order.

Glad that you got your problem fixed
