How you prefer to play DeI? ¿You play it with Ancient Empires or Without?

I like a lot Ancient Empires sub mod, but some factions start without an army and that make it a little imposible to begin expansion

Without, DEI is in my opinion the pinnacle of Rome 2 Mods, but I am looking forward to the Ancient Empires mod for Attila, and that will probably be release around the same time as Star Citizen

With. It further enhanced the realism which is what I'm looking for in a Total War game. It is also significantly more difficult. As Rome you start at war with both Syracuse and Carthage, and boy they will come for you. I overconfidently attacked Sicily with only 1 consular army, leaving the other army to defend Rome, and overextended.... After some victories and vassalizing Syracuse the army was below half strength and subsequently annihilated by 2 stacks of Carthaginian reinforcements. By turn 6(!) I had 2 Carthaginian armies near Rome + 2 more hostile Latin armies from Italian cities the Carthaginians had 'liberated'. Was the first campaign that I lost in a long time.
Aeimnestus was a Spartan, famous because he killed the Persian General Mardonius at the battle of Plataea.

It's hard to decide, but until there is a native language (Rome is Roma, etc) version of the submod, I think I'll stick without AE. It just feels too weird for me to play with English faction and unit names.

I don't think there is a wrong answer here, its subjective. AE brings some really interesting things to the table but changes other fundamental parts also. Its really a matter of personal preference.

Dresden, as the master, if you had to list a top 3-5 things about AE that makes it great/unique, what would they be?

    Of course, open to anyone.

That would be a question for ABH2 and his team, I have enough on my plate just managing the main mod.

But, off the top of my head, the Augustus map for the main campaign and emergent factions both add some very interesting things.

Will DEI ever be ported over to the Augustus map?

We will be redoing the grand campaign startpos for 1.2. Whether or not we use the Augustus map is still being determined.
