Default Problem With Mac Steam Installation/setup

    Hi.

I have Rome II Emperor Edition (mac version) for steam.

My understanding is that I cannot just download the mod via steam, for whatever reason. Is this correct?

I've downloaded the two parts of the mod from TWC and extracted them into my data folder.

So now there are two folders - Divide et Impera Part 1, and Divide et Impera Part 2

    Inside are .pack files.

I read the instructions and it says:

    3. In Mod Manager, check "enable out of date mods."
    4. In Mod Manager be sure that the file "Divide_et_Impera_Release.pack" is checked. If you have the Steam version, make sure the 4 steam parts are NOT checked.

There is no mod manager inside the game, that I'm aware of. Steam has one, but it doesn't seem to work.

I found these directions for the mac edition:

    http://forums.totalwar.com/showthrea...peror-Edition?

It tells me to create a text file, but there are two .pack files for DEI, not one...

How can I go about getting this mod to run?

    Thanks.

    1. First of all you need to create a new text document. (I think what I did was go to the preference script, duplicate, delete all the text and rename it, as shown below)

    2. You then need to put the file names, so in this case, _divide_et_impera_release_1.pack & _divide_et_impera_release_2.pack into the text file you just made, like so. Make sure to save the file. (I have other mods alongside, so ignore those, but you can see the general idea of how to enable mods on mac)

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    3. Once you've done that, put the two files into your data folder, shown here.

That's it! At the moment Grand Campaign doesn't work, however the other campaigns work great. Hopefully this helps, any questions feel free to pm me or reply here.

    Thanks so much, Strawberry.

    One problem, though.

You want me to create that text file in "scripts" folder inside the Rome II directory.

But I don't seem to have a scripts folder inside my Rome II directory.

Also, is the Grand Campaign not working only for Mac, or for the PC edition too?

The mod is fully functional for PC but has various issues with Macs. We aren't completely sure why, it is either due to scripts or a startpos issue.

Did you check in the Library folder, then Creative Assembly? It's not with the data folder for some reason.

I don't see "Creative Assembly" in the library folder.

Yeah I think the scripts folder is in the same one as save games - C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome2 for windows. I am not sure where it is for Mac.

I left the paths at the bottom of the screens, hopefully they'll help. Unless if we're on different OS's.

Hmm, maybe it changes it. I haven't updated to it yet, out of fear of it changing game settings haha. Maybe worth a google search on where Steam files are? Apart from that I don't understand why it's not in the same place as mine. :/

Is that the application support folder that steam the steam folder is in? If so, it's the folder before application support that has Creative Assembly.

Make sure you have launched the game at least once since installing it to generate the scripts folder. If you have it should be located at Library/The Creative Assembly/Rome2.Also you actually can download mods using Steam on Mac, it just doesn't download them to the correct location. It downloads them into another folder in Library, i think somewhere in the Steam folder in Application Support, and you have to move it manually to the data folder. It's usually easier to just download mods on TWC or moddb, but there are some mods only available on Steam. The Mac version still isn't as stable and many mods, including DEI, simply don't work properly on Mac. I actually haven't tried playing it on Mac since upgrading to El Capitan, and turns out it crashes on launch for me again. I'll have to reinstall to get it to work on Mac again. You are better off using Bootcamp or Parallels to play R2 on windows.

edit: I looked around and found where Steam downloads mods on Mac: Library/Application Support/Steam/userdata/[string of numbers]/ugc/referenced
