OOC: Thought we should do some RP before the battle. Campaigning and the like. Could I have a raid roll?

    IC:

The Manderly host had entered Peake lands a few days prior, and had established an encampment at a small settlement that was on the periphery of the Peake holdings. Starpike was close, but a siege was not what Arthor was after. From this encampment he would strike out at Peake's lands, burning and looting, forcing him to engage. Raiding parties sprawled across the countryside, slaughtering the inhabitants of the outlying settlements and burning the rest. It was bloody work, but each day at least a dozen small groups would depart for their days plunder, primarily to obtain food for the otherwise overstretched force. Hopefully, this prolonged looting would draw Peake into combat on ground that was less in his favour. Night and day, watchmen waited for the arrival of Peake, which would surely be an inevitability. He could not let Manderly pillage his lands forever.

Arthor himself was itching for the chance to face Peake in combat. In his tent he daily discussed stratagems and ploys with his commanders, as well as his wife, who seemed to insist on being brought everywhere - even the battlefield. It would certainly be bloody - but the victors path would be clear. Highgarden itself. It was to conquer or die.

[OOC: You can't raid a province that has an enemy army raised and ready to fight in it. PM me your battle orders when you're ready for the battle to be rolled.]

[OOC: What Poach means is that you could RP raiding, but you won't get an actual raid roll for it.]

Short on time so I'll post the results and broad summary.

    - Both sides wanted a holding action in the centre, meaning neither army really committed to the fight. Casualties were light.
    - Both sides attempted to pin the enemy with infantry and follow up with a cavalry charge to smash the foe once pinned on the flanks. The result was a bloody melee among all forces on the flanks as the various forces ended up meshed together.

    - House Peake wins the battle.
    - Both sides lose roughly 4,000 men anyway. Manderly's wise deployment of a reserve spared the army the worst of the bloodshed (without the reserve your losses would be closer to 5,500 men). Losses were very much limited by the timidity in the centre of the fight: only 2 of the 3 flanks were really seeing actual fighting.

    Troops left alive:
