Is it normal for nomadic horse archers kill all my units even in the woods?I understand free space, but the forest?
I am not even sure if this engine provies cover from woods to be honest.

I remember this was the case in Empire Total War with bullets. Remember being severely outnumbered and having a force in the woodlands who held out for a longer than before routing. Pretty sure this still applies to missile weapons. In terms of hand-combat it's only cavalry who suffer the penalties now.

I think it does. I'm not sure which table those values are in... terrain maybe?
There are some stuff regarding cover in kv_rules but those are I think leftover from Empire and Napoleon where there was actual cover system behind small walls etc.

I think woods give some cover...but hiding from Horse archers isn't the way to beat them. But I don't know if you were asking how to counter them.
From what I remember in a statement made by CA, trees do give cover, apparently you can see the arrows sticking in the tree's, I'd have to take more notice next time I'm in a game to confirm it.

Can't you just add an effect for forest terrain? For instance, I remember seeing a modification where water not only slowed you down, but effected charge bonus and fatigue. Couldn't you just up missile-block chance when in forest?
If that mod didn't add the effect of missile block chance then I guess you can't pick it. I think when I read through that mod long time ago, creator wanted to have more effects but he could only change speed and stuff. Anyway, I have no clue how to edit those things so I will check, but I think you can't add missile block chance. Plus, if the system works like in Shogun 2, then arrows are blocked by tree models, if forest is not dense enough, then arrows will have nothing to block them, hence there is no reason to give that much more cover.

I give up, I feel so sorry for the DEI team, I think we need the option to type in braille as half these people are blind.
But if a statement from CA (quote given by zonks40) claims that trees do provide cover then why discuss a submod to add missile block chance?
But do trees block missiles being shot out of a forest, or just in?
If the engine is able to do collision detection with missiles, my guess would be that it works for both sides. As I see it, collision detection just detects whether there is an object in the line of fire and if so, the projectile is cancelled.
