    Default SS 6.4 Bugfix Crash When Taking Settlement

    Hello, and thank you to whoever is taking their time to help me with my problem. In my recent Stainless Steel 6.4 Campaign (with a BugFix), i have started an English campaign. It is 20 turns in, and Scotland is down to their last settlement, Inverness. When I captured it the first time, I sacked it. Right as I click it, the game crashed and said "Medieval II encountered an unspecified error and will now exit". I just thought it was one of those random harmless crashes that happened, but I did have to redo the battle. After I redid it I saved right as it came to the "occupy, sack, or exterminate" screen just to be safe. I clicked sack again and it crashed. I reloaded the game and campaign and this time I tried occupy. Crash again. I tried exterminate, and it still crashed. And now because I saved it on that "occupy, sack, or exterminate" screen I am stuck on it, and I now can not do anything else in the campaign....I just keep crashing whatever I click. I hope I can save this campaign, it is really fun so far.

    Some background info:

    I have a bugfix
    I have v 6.4
    I launch through the launcher.
    I play this game through steam.
    I have not edited anything in the data files (or anything else for that matter).

    2.1 If your issue is a CTD (crash to desktop) or unexpected error open your SS.System.log file in \Medieval II Total War\logs\ with Word, OO or notepad and include the last 10 lines (6.3 needs 100 lines or better yet the full log as zipped attachment) in your post. In case you are posting more then 10 lines be sure to use a spoiler tag enclosing the log (use [ spoiler ] contents of system.log [ /spoiler ] without the spaces). 6.3 and 6.4 users should access their log from start menu -> stainless steel -> error log.

    2.2 If your game freezes or crashes on an AI turn tell us the last faction active (as indicated by the highlighted shield/heraldry at the top of your screen) before the crash. Use "follow ai movement" and the reveal map cheat "toggle_fow" to identify the last action of the AI before the crash. Often campaigns can be saved by simply preventing that action.

    Here it is , and thanks a lot for trying to help me with my problem. Like I said I just captured Inverness on MY turn and it's technically my settlement (so Scotland is dead). It shows Inverness being my faction color on the minimap, so I know it for certain. I'm just stuck on the "Occupy, Sack, or Exterminate" screen

    Having the exact same problem as the OP, except for me, it is when my Danes take the last Lithuanian city, Minsk.

    Turn on trace. But usually this has to do with character spawnings (i.e. william wallace, coming of age general, etc).

    at both: logs are mostly useless without trace enabled in the preferences.cfg file. delete the ; before the line with trace to enable it.

    at op: ur crashing on the campaign screen not on the battle screen. which sucks. Do you have an old autosave. If so wait a turn then attack the city. If not....well you can try this:

    surrender_regions <Desired faction> (this will turn all 'remaining' settlements to rebel). It shouldn't work (would work if you hadn't attacked yet and were not on that screen) but it might still work:
    so it should be this in console: surrender_regions scotland. (be warned if you forget scotland it will do the human controlled faction by default).

    at 2nd guy Has: Wait a turn then take the city. If you have to unseige then reseige. It'll allow the unit to spawn/do/act whatever it needs to and then you should be good to go.
    if not use the surrender_regions command above then take it.
