Default I'm probably alone here but.........

    Hi there,

I wasn't wanting to post here and although my game is fine I have something weird going on and wondered if anyone else has had the same thing.

I had to recently get a new Power Supply Unit and this new one is 500w, the od one was 400w and this new one whenever I scroll across the Campaign Map, the power supply unit makes this very fast flickering sound (only way I can describe it) and when I stop scrolling the sound stops too, this only happens in Medieval 2 Total War and no other game as I have tested my other games out extensively and its fine, anyone else no what this might be and if its anything to worry about? or has anyone else noticed this, I expect to be alone as usual in this but no harm in asking....

Sorry to ask this here as its not affecting my game as such, but where else do I ask this......and as it happens with this game alone I am a bit concerned

    Any help appreciated

Because I have put my ear right next to it and its definately coming from there, the old one did'nt do this but it had to go due to the fan packing up.

It is defiantely from nowhere else I have my Tower right next to me and as the Campaign Map is so large I can move the mouse to the edge of the screen and then listen to the power supply and its as I say coming from there.

I am not mad and know what I am saying if you think I can't be sure, sorry but I don't mean to be funny with you but as you don't use smilies I am not sure as to the way you meant to say that

hahahaaaa lol I meant what I said.

Does your PSU have variable fan rate? If so you should configure it in BIOS to roate at a sustained rate cos maybe it's increasing it's RPM when you traverse the campagin map.

EDIT: Whats the make of your new PSU? If it's a generic cheapo then it's most likely overloading.

No I know you meant what you said but what I should have said was I wasn't sure in what tone you meant that, if you follow me lol : )

Anyway no matter, I have no idea if it has a variable fan rate........and would'nt know how to check this out or be able to change it in the BIOS : (

reboot PC and during the mem-check of POST press ether F2 or DEL key depending on your mobo. (try both).

When in BIOS use your keyboard directional keys coupled with enter key to manipulate the menu and settings. You should b able to find your way around to the PSU fan settings. Good luck.

Ok thanks I'll have a look at it then

Well I would'nt call this one cheap at £40 and sadly I cannot tell you at the moment what it is as I did'nt install it, it was done for me buy the person who built my system

I get no option to configure anything to do with the PSU Fan settings, only the CPU Fan speeds are mentioned and that's it : (

if it dosen't have any markings or brand stickers then it's most likely a cheap generic one that is only operating at 80% of it's stated wattage. But it's weird how u only get the clicks when on campaign map. The GPU would suck more power during the battlemap if anything. Weird.
