    Default The Royal Chronicles

    FOREWORD
"The Royal Chronicles of the Kingdom of Jerusalem as commissioned by His Grace, King Julien I of Jerusalem.

Find in these texts the great history of the Four Great Crusader States of the Holy Lands. Read of their struggles, their joys, their woes, their defeats and their victories. God's will is in these very pages, for it was His will that saw the success of the First Crusade, His will that the Crusader States should prosper, and it is His will that these records be kept . This is the legacy of His Holiness, Pope Urban II - may he rest in eternal peace - caller of the First Crusade.

These records will endure until Armageddon, for they will exist until the fall of Jerusalem!

Written in the year 1100 Anno Domini by Father Elouan Beauchamp

    YEAR 1099 ANNO DOMINI
The Year 1099 AD, after a struggle that lasted nearly 3 years, the Crusaders would finally achieve their goals. Jerusalem, birthplace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, would finally fall into Christian hands. The city fell after a long and bloody siege, a siege that saw many of Christ's Warriors enter Heaven. This glorious news was quickly sent to Rome but, alas, the mastermind of the Crusade - Pope Urban II - had died. He never lived to see the aftermath of his piety and vision. A Christian King in Jerusalem!

After the fall of the city, a council of the Crusade's leaders gathered to elect a King. After long deliberations and negotiations Julien de Baalun - bastard brother of the excommunicated King Phillipe of France - was chosen by his fellows and by God to lead the Greatest of the Four Crusader States. He quickly ensured the loyalty of his followers and his rivals. He gave the Princehsip of Galilee to Duke Robert Curthose, but his departure home saw his nephew, Robert Caen, take the title. To Guy Villehardouin he gave Acre, the greatest port in the Levant. And to Malcolm de Dundee, he gave Ramla with the promise of the port city of Jaffa.
