Hi I just had a thought for a submod involving several different aspects and I just wanted to here what people thought and possibly suggest a good version (DAC, MOS, vanilla etc.) would be best to add it to
Ents & Entwives
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
So basically if you play as an elf faction and capture Fangorn, there will be a special building (Forest of Fangorn) that allows you to recruit Ents so long as the culture (Entish) is around 80/90% so then you have to decide whether to keep the culture Entish and recruit the best units in the game or increase your own and recruit your roster. I plan on giving Fangorn the potential to be very wealthy in either scenario.
However the Ents are not very cheap and have a long replenishment time (30 turns), but I have another thought about the nets losing the will to battle. So 30 turns after they are recruited you will get a pop up telling you the nets have tired and returned to Fangorn, this is to make it so you will never have more then 2 ent units at a time, so you can't just blitz everyone
But that's not all
after around 10/15 turns have passed and Fangorn is still under your control, Treebeard will come fourth and offer his services as he wants to explore Middle Earth for the ent wives. Unlike the ordinary ents he won't tire.
So the idea is if you send Treebeard to a certain portion of the map he will find the entwives, Treebeard will get a special ancillary and you can build a new building (gardens of Fimbrethil) which will give some nice big juicy bonuses to your settlement. On top of that I might make it so the nets won't tire anymore but I'm not 100% sure about that.
New heroes and leaders
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
A little less complicated then the ent events, but I wanted to add Radagast, Galadriel, the blue wizards and the balrog as an event hero. I also had an idea of using the ring script to give the option to let Galadriel or the balrog supplant Sauron. But again not 100% sure I might be very overestimating my skills here
I just have one question, can you change the faction leader/heir titles, by character, so one will be a lord for one character, the other a queen. Is that possible through a trait or something along those lines?
Other then that what do you guys think I'm interested to hear your opinions :p
Edit:
dohh misspelled ents, does anybody know how to rename a thread :/

Reason: Thread title fixed
Ents, not nets, damn you autocorrect. But that's a brilliant idea with finding the entwives. I don't know if they are still around though or if anyone really knows what Tolkien said about them. Finding the entwives should also allow the recruiting of ents in Fangorn forest.
As for the other idea Divide and Conquer allows you to take the Ring to Saruman as Isengard and with its power Saruman can take control of the Nazgul. Something similar could work with Galadriel I suppose though I don't know if she had that power. I'm afraid that you cannot make the faction leader have a different title depending on the character, although you could go into the traits file and make custom traits with epethets. So with the right changes Galadriel could be known as Galadriel , Queen of Lorien.
edit: double click near the thread title to rename your thread.

This is a very sweet idea. I would support your plans.
Two points to note however;
1) You can't increase another factions culture nor can you permanently stop the spread of your own, there is no way to do this. So it is a cool idea to make the Ents need their own culture but sadly as soon as you own Fangorn as an elf the culture will begin turning to Elven.
EDIT: There may be a way to continually 'boost' the culture you need through a script but I am not well versed in scripting. Perhaps fortune will smile upon you and Withwnar will be able to shed light on this aspect.
2) Galadriel as a general has been suggested many times and I am not sure if you are suggesting having her as a full time general or just an anc or maybe a diplomat or something but if she is a general there is no way to make the game see her as a woman. Ergo she will be offered marriages from other woman and together they will have children. (Elf magic beating IV by thousands of years.... ) Additionally, every trait she gets will speak about her as a him and as Denethor pointed out, she will be called 'King Galadriel' or 'Lord Galadriel' depending on what you call your faction leader.

Wow quite surprised you guys like it, it's a shame that female generals aren't supported but fully understandable considering the vanilla games timeframe, maybe having her as a witch or something like that, though not sure what witches actually do. But it's a shame I had the idea of her taking the ring then having the choice of using it to destroy Sauron and save middle earth, or wield it and replace sauron as a dark queen.
I like Denethors idea about getting the ents after finding the wives, much simpler
Id love to use DAC but the only problem is the ents being a faction but that could be fixed with a scripted Isengard takeover I suppose. Thanks for your feedback though guys

Witches spread heresy/religion in the base game. They are essentially priests, but there is one mechanic that maybe could fit with Galadriel: they can curse enemy generals, giving them negative traits. The original game's traits (flatulent and warts) obviously don't fit with the Legendarium, but that should be easy to sort out (well, maybe flatulent can fit with hobbits? )
So that's what they do :p makes sense, though the spreading religion will have to go since its culture, though I have this vision of galadriel wandering around mordor smuggling in elves dressed as orcs and scaring the out of the Nazgul maybe making generals afraid of lothlorien or weaken their will something like that :p
