Rohan: Edoras

So in my campaign Rohan lost Edoras to Mordor and i didnt really think much of it. That was until they started spamming armies from and crushing the surrounding Rohan armies. After about 8 turn of Rohan doing nothing to retake Edoras so I marched an army over and booted the orc out and took Edoras and got a faction report stating that Rohan had lost its capital to a "good" faction. Is this a really important in any way? Should i have let Mordor continue to route Rohan? Does it matter if I give Edoras back to Rohan or keep it. Im playing as the Free Peoples btw. thx

Are you using a mod, I don't recall any message like that. If you have an alliance they won't attack if not they may eventually if they get strong enough, but most likely they will die out instead. You might want to sell it back or gift it unless you eventually mean to take over Rohan, because it would have lots of corruption and be a pain to defend, to say nothing of lore. Also Rohan will be a lot weaker without it, and this will help its enemies grow stronger, who may attack you next.

Only that Rohan will be much weaker without it (being a large settlement); whether you care about that or not is however up to you.

Since you're Free Peoples, I can't imagine why you wouldn't want Rohan to have Edoras back. But unless you help them rebuild a bit, they'll just lose it again.

But they don't ask you to give it back to them. In my game (as Free Peoples) the orcs took it too, in a Crusade or whatever the name is, and I conquered it for the money it brings but also to exterminate the last orc settlement, because Rohan did nothing to retake it in like 20 turns, even though they had plenty of half stacks here and there.

I would gladly had given it to them anyway because I didn't really need it.

^ I have never seen the AI ask for a region even once, except for a region you took from them in war. It's very odd but I've also noticed Rohan does little to take back Edoras, maybe it's better to keep it for that reason, don't want them to just lose it again.

OTOH you can ask for alliance and military access and be guaranteed to get it. Which is always useful from someone on your side that you don't start allied with.

Never happened to me (vanilla game 3.2) in like 8 complete campaigns and some early ended more campaigns...
