A little help with Massalia

Hello, i'm playing again the mod again and i have some problems with this game

Im playing with Massalia and its kind difficult make trade and non agression pact. ¿Can someone give me some tips for play with Massalia?

Hi!

Some more general tips:

1. Build up eco

2. Unite province (eliminate Volcae tribe)

3. Send ship out to Greece and Egypt to get trade

4. Appease Rome (thats most likely most important

)

As Massalia my tactic would be to trade with anybody in the Mediterranean area while trying to conquer Gaul. Gaul then can serve as your basis of power when you try to expand over the Mediterranean Sea.

Also in case of troops, do not go for the numbers as your enemies will always have more men anyway, try your luck with less and heavier troops and shock combat until you get 1-2 cities.

A starting army of massilian royal guard, 4 hoplites, 2 archers and 2 peltasts can wreak havoc on early celtic armies and wont break your economy as it is a half stack.

On a topic-related note, I like to RP to a certain extent and maintain alliances with Rome and my Greek ancestors - Athens and Sparta. However, as you start with only 1 settlement, you are quite vulnerable from all sides, and the AI will take advantageous of this. Therefore, it is a good idea to make friends anyway.
