A journey to Rome
A ship made dock in the small city port of Salerno carrying the Cardinal as its passenger, William decided to get off the ship and travel by land to Rome. Travelling by land was the safer option, the open sea is always dangerous and unpredictable, the ship he arrived on was almost lost twice at sea before making port. William purchased a horse and rode into Rome twas a 2 day ride. The Cardinal was finally home, he had spent his youth studying here in Rome, everything was so familiar felt like somewhat of a dream. He visited his old favourite spots and met up with some childhood friends before entering the papal palace where he awaited an audience with the holy father

Re: A journey to Rome
The Archbishop was received by the Holy Father, who was sat on the Papal throne in the centre of the grandiosely decorated hall. Smiling slightly, Paschal II beckoned William forward for an audience.

Re: A journey to Rome
Paschal nods sagely, watching carefully as the Cardinal rose. The Italian Pope then replied in Latin with a carefully considered and yet polite response.
"I fare well, thank you, Cardinal. It is good to see you back here in Rome. What is the purpose of your visit to the Holy See today, do you bring me news from Jerusalem?"

Re: A journey to Rome
And I am glad to be back in Rome even if it is for a brief visit. Holy father I have come on a mission from the King of Jerusalem, he wishes me to obtain an annulment of his marriage on account of his wife's unfaithfulness.
William hands over the multiple testimonials given to him by the King

Re: A journey to Rome
Rolled: 10. Just about successful.
Paschal nodded and smiled thinly, handing the documents back to the Cardinal.
"Very well, Cardinal. I shall make the necessary arrangements for the annulment of the marriage between Julien de Baalun and Constance de Evréux, on the grounds of infidelity."
