Lol, I felt the same way; sent you a pm basically saying that. Any time I don't see a thread listing my issue I always assume first it's my system/install at fault (which I'm still not convinced it isn't, but I've done everything any forum I've read has suggested (reinstalling, deleting assembly folder, etc.) and still get random ctd's, mostly during end of turn).

Just to be sure, I'm downloading the same link (which has the exact same name, slightly larger size) and replacing the original, correct? One weird thing is that it's not requesting me to overwrite when merging; I have to delete the previous file which seems odd.

The random crashes is happening for a few selected users and we hope that Litharion might have cracked the code and solved the problem.
The crashes seems to be random and perhaps due to the individual setup. I have had 0 crashes since update 1.1c and even before that it was only update 1.1b which gave me crashes.
But this update works for me not that its going to help you much but I can perhaps describe my game to you

Yeah, new update causes instant crash for me. This is so frustrating; I've never had my system be the root cause of something like this happening. I had a hell of a time installing it in the first place (after updating my vcredist the game wouldn't launch from the launcher, so I had to move steam to a different drive to get it to work; I also haven't been able to get GEMFX to work with bypass ui enabled for some inexplicable reason, another issue which seems absent on the forums). All of my drivers are up to date, I've reinstalled 3 times now, on two different drives, and have spent roughly 10 hours trying to force RTW2 to work with DEI. I'm really at a dead end as to what I can do to fix this outside of completely reinstalling my OS or just accepting the random crashes as a price to pay to somewhat enjoy the game.

Other than trying to verify you game files and make sure the data folder is clean (which it is as you have just checked) I cannot really say what could be wrong.
And as for the Bypass UI function of GEM. Try writing a PM to Slypear, he helped me get it working.

i did have random crashes until the update previous to the one, which i saved and i am using that one for now as it works good for me. i have only played 25 turns with it with no crashes but i was getting a crash around every 10 to 15 turns so hopefully its fixed that problem. The only thing i change is the update package and then it crashes at the start up screen, so i guess that it is causing me a problem some how. I am no expert at these things and would not have a clue what to do if i had not tead so many threads with the usually restart, clear data folder of any other mods and verify integrity of cach. By the way love the mod been playing it since the beginning and it keeps getting better, plus the customer service is fantastic. keep it up boys

found what was causing the problem, When you down load the file and you already have the old update file in the download folder windows automatically puts a (1) or (2) depending on how many of the smae file name you have in the folder. just right click rename and delete the (1) or whatever number you have and it works just fine.

Yeah, I saw that the first time lol. Weird thing; I tried activating via the Mod manager here on TWC. It wouldn't launch the game, but now I can load it through the normal mod manager and it doesn't crash on splash screen... Here's hoping I'm through the woods. Thanks for the help.

yea its been a while now that you have to use the normal mod manager or it will not launch

Default Work in Progress Fix Pack 1.1d (Updated December 8)

I wouldnt recommend using any other mod manager than the official one. And yes, how the file is named also has an impact The problem was so simple

    Hey guys.

Since installing the latest fix pack I've had repeated CTDs upon reaching the Ptolemaioi in the End Turn cycle. I'll attach my save data to see if you can work out what's up!

Okay, I can confirm this. The crash happens on Seleucid turn, but carries over to the Ptolemaioi faction.

Thank you, Litharion. Do you know the cause?

I'm on the latest edition as of the time of this post (I downloaded it 18 hours ago and played for a while. md5 hash says the current download is the same as what I've been playing). I occasionally got crashes on the AI turn, but it was solved by just starting the game up again. I'd say it only happened every 1 -3 hours and wasn't bad enough to mess with my enjoyment of the game. I'm not entirely sure how some people get no crashes whatsoever. Maybe I'm running out of RAM? I only have 8GB in the system.

ETA: Noting but parts 1 through 6 from steam, this pack, and all the vanilla EE / dlc stuff in my data folder. Not using GEM.

EDIT2: Actually I have the MDMPs right here. Only crashes were:

    0439 (about 39 minutes in)
    0542 (just an hour later)
1153 (a whole six hours later)

Really odd. I have 8 GB Ram and Im running GEM aswell with no crashes so far. At turn 30 with the new update. Turn 60 with the old one and no crashes.
Dont think it will change anything but perhaps changing to the standalone pack could help?

I'll look into that. The auto-updates is nice.

As I was saying, they don't happen often enough to be too annoying, but if people have a way to avoid them entirely, so much the better. I'll try that when I start my next campaign. British Confederation currently raiding the Baltic coast
