    Default Expanding Unit Descriptions

    Hey guys,

I'm aware that this is hardly on the list of priorities, but I was wondering if two things were going to make it onto the unit descriptions, namely

    - The pronunciation of the vernacular term for the unit

    - Advanced unit details (ie. mass, weapon types and damage, etc.)

As always, obligatory (but well deserved) praise for the EB team, you guys are awesome

You know, personally I'm proud that this has had 130 views and not a single reply. Now if only this thread could be locked so I could look back someday to the glory of a post of mine that only I replied to c: .-*living the dream*-.

There are at least 130 people that browse this forum on a daily basis, maybe even a lot more, but that doesn't mean any of them can respond to your post. Only a specific member of the EBII team can answer this kind of question...

I'm aware, I'm aware, I just found it amusing It's pretty great actually to know there are over a hundred regular browsers of this forum.

Oh and Sylon, a recruitment viewer would be absolutely sweet. I wonder how hard XML parsing actually is...

I'd say the work really is in parsing regular text rather than XML, at least as far as parsing EDB, EDU, descr_regions, etc.

At some point you might want to make an actual map so you might need to read some XML with regards to their config, but I think the map is just a TGA and the climate files etc are probably irrelevant to listing units recruitable.

A Recruitment Viewer would be MUCH more complicated for EB2, because instead of 4 types of government that everyone makes, plus 5 tiers of factional and 5 tiers of native barracks, now we have a far more complex network of faction government buildings, with many factions having as many as 7 or 8 options just in factional, plus various levels of allied.

I think with client rulers specifically QS mentioned at one point that they're accepting placeholder text. I laughed when I saw in-game one of the placeholders which was just a quote from someone posting on the forum that they'd much rather have the rulers in-game with no description or text but functional for RP / governance reasons than delay it to Autumn Release but with full text :-D

If memory serves, z3n had an acquintance who was working on some sort of XML parser that could be used to make a program much like EB1's recruitment viewer. I haven't heard any updates on that front recently, however.

There was a submod that did this exact thing (expanded unit cards) when the first playable versions of EB2 came out, IIRC.

Maybe it'll get updated for the Autumn Release?

While this would be a cool idea wouldn't it be better to expand unit descriptions on the few units that sadly still have little or even no description? Namely the Client Rulers

And a little suggestion for the team how about asking for help from the forum members like you guys did for the regional description?
