I wasn't sure how the updated civil war mechanics would translate into DeI, so now that I know you guys have adopted the vanilla civil war update, I'm pretty disappointed. It's the single most game-breaking mechanic and it ruins the entire game for me. Before, i could just trigger a civil war with my armies spread out and then take my stuff back. Annoying, broken, completely asinine implementation, the worst civil war mechanic ever seen in video game history, but at least manageable. Not anymore. The entire mechanic is terrible and nothing but a turn-off, and now there is no official escape from this nonsense. Keep your influence balanced, get crappy imperium benefits, and then eventually get a civil war anyway, or keep your influence high, get a bunch of benefits, and still have to deal with repeated civil wars. I play really slow games, meaning I turtle and expand slowly, so there is a LOT of idle turn-passing going on. Like, I'll have 5 provinces at turn 200 with all maxed buildings and a gigantic economy, because that's how I like to play, but with a civil war chance every damn turn it's just not viable to end so many turns idle, I feel like I'm forced to rush the campaign objectives with as few civil wars as possible, like some sort of horrible time limit, instead of just expanding my empire in a sandbox mindset.
In other total war games, I'd stop playing a campaign when I won. In Rome 2, I stop playing when a civil war happens. Campaign over, next faction. It's that awful.
TL;DR
So, now that I've made my feelings clear on how much I despise this mechanic, I have a question to ask: are there any mods that are compatible with current DeI 1.1 saves that disable civil war? Or, is there at least a mod that changes it for new campaigns? If not I'm probably going to abandon yet another campaign, I don't care if the politics are trivialized because they're the worst politics in any total war game to date. Rather have no politics than broken politics.
