    Default Scouting out defenses

A small company of 40 horsemen leave Ramla, led by four Gaelic Officers. About 10 miles outside of the town, they split and each goes its own way.

10 horsemen, led by Angus, make their way to Jaffa, to scout the defenses.

10 horsemen, led by Ahearn, are sent to scout out Tyre.

10 horsemen, led by Donal, go to Arsuf.

10 horsemen, led by Conall, go forth to Ascalon.

Each of these missions have the same objective. Scout out any enemy forces in the area and discover how well each town and city is defended.

All horsemen are Gaelic Light Cavalry(Men At Arms).

((OOC: Each of the guys leading the scouting parties are actually my retainers, and they all have experience in scouting and tracking etc. If that means they need capture/death rules in return for a chance for their experience to modify rolls, that's fine with me.))

    Moderation:

Group 1: Led by Angus, the scouts come within sight of a Muslim patrol, and are chased off by the swift Arab riders. They are unable to provide any intelligence on the defences.

Group 2: The scouts return from Tyre, and report a rather large force present. The local Emir, expecting a Latin incursion, has mobilised two thousand soldiers that are stationed in the settlement and in the surrounding lands.

Group 3: The riders return, reporting figures from one thousand men to two thousand five hundred, present in Arsuf and the surrounding countryside.

Group 4: The scouts return, but were chased off by Saracen patrols before they could get an accurate estimate. Numbers vary wildly, between two hundred to five hundred men present.
