Had an enjoyable journey with Castile and Leon. Ruled the peninsuela for more than a century with two families ruling the faction & competing for the throne and the ministrial offices.

down here is a partial view of the 10-11 generations family tree of the ruling family. when the campaign first started, the rule was for the De Leon family, yet by the 1170s both the De Granada and Martinez rise to compete over the daughters of De Leon, to eventually the De Granadas would consistently inherit the rule starting from the 1220s...

the El Camina Santiago was very useful in maintaining piety among my generals. by the 1250s the 2nd Riech destroyes France and threatens the papacy which was led by my big boss priest. that's how my habit of funding anti-german wars came up. I funded the Norweigian campaign towards Hamburg. I funded the Pisan campaign to kick out the germans from Tuscany and Genoa, and even declared a crusade on Basel that was taken by the crusader states eventually, to later declare war on the italian states and expand to milan... all while my young generals are defending the last french stronghold.

The Mongols entered hard, reached Mosul, took it, to later suffer an internal civil war and fall back on behalf of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. it's disappointing since I looked forward to them reaching the meditirranian so I could have a good reason to Crusade to the east.

*Technically everything went smoother than it ever was in the past years and that's something to appreciate as it allows long campaigns with consistency to the challenge. I ran through a specific CTD that occurd whenever I choose to battle the rebel units which spawn in central north spain (Salamanca, Leon, El Camino), everytime I choose to battle these rebel units on the battlefield, the game crashes while loading the battle. this happened only to these rebel units which spawned less than 5 times during my 370+ laps campaign. Again, the mod never ran smoother and more consistently. Outstanding work!

*attached is the save game of this campaign, Turn 378, Diffeculty:VH\VH Year 1300AD.

NEXT: My Seljuks of Rum Campagin, Already beyond the1230s with lots of drama.

I would love to hear about your campaigns in case you're currently playing any. Cheers!

Do you have a save right before a battle with these rebels? I think there must be a problem with this unit that I could probably fix for the next version. Thanks for these screenshots and comments !

Had a unique and unpredictable campaign as Seljuks of Rum.

The faction sets in a very unique part of the world. and once the storm of fighting the romans calms early in the campaign, the faction rapidly builds up, which is very enjoyable. 30 years after the begining of my campaign I managed to win a truce with the Romans, quickly later we traded and that evolved quickly to an Alliance, along with Serbia. all while I'm investing in exhausting the Zengids and sacking the Georgians.

Although I was able to take Armenia Celicia, I was short on family members to appoint an Emir to maintain the city and defend it. thus I offered it to my Roman allies in 1171AD. Ironically, didn't know that passing Armenia Cilicia to the Romans will lead to their conquest of Jerusalem half a century later.

The Romans arrive at Jerusalem - 1233AD

One thing I believe is underminded among the community players is the effieciency of the Diplomacy\Alliance system, especially with the proper reputation and geopolitical status. My consistent coordination with the Romans and Qipchaks played a major role in my survival as my alliance with both faction ensured me superiorety in the region for more than a century. Pictured; Hordes of Turkic and Qipchak armies on the gates of europe. by the 1250s and along with the Fatimids and Qipchaks the Romans lost Asia Minor. It's already the 1300's AD and Serbia is still scared to attack the Romans.

Interestingly, Damasuc remained Roman all the way until 1320AD.... and still going strong.

Highly unique campaign with a different military order than most factions. Asia Minor might seem like a tought terrain yet nothing can block your far-reaching selection of cavalry. All mechanics worked perfectly including the Crowning system. Pictured; My 3rd Crowned Sultan of the Turks.

This has been the most immersive campaign so far in SSHIP. maybe because of the unique mechanisms of this faction. managing a late era (after the 1250s) feels highly different from any campaign start. it's really worth exploring. HRE was extremely powerful in this campaign, so much that through 2 cursades HRE Knocked the fatimids and conquered the Levant (Aqaba to Antioch) and soon will meet the Mongols around Aleppo (Mongols came in weak this time, barely took down the Zegidsd, faild to supress the Abbasids, Froze from advancing further to Aleppoo). I agree with other voices pointing at the overpowered performance of HRE.

*I did my saves per year. and saved all the way until the year 1320AD. year by year. I uploaded the saves(VH\VH) in a rar file on Mediafire.
    https://www.mediafire.com/file/l1uls...320AD.rar/file

    Happy new year everyone!

Thank you for this very interesting campaign feedback. I confirm the undoubtedly too great power of the Germanic Empire (observed in 3 current campaigns) and the new weakness of the Mongols who now seem incapable of approaching their real historical conquests.

that's my current goal. i'm almost near the game limit for turns. but being that scotland starts out horribly, and i had to fight for survival for much of the early and mid game, i didn't get a head start and i don't think i can expand fast enough especially in the big empty east. but i'm still gonna try it. i'll show my map when its all finished. whatever faction i pick next, i'm confident i'll be able to conquer everything with my new experience

VH/VH. Very strange mod and very very very punishing sometimes. Upkeep cost and low unit avaliability are big problem yet its manageble and i even like it as you kinda forced to recruit whatevery you can to fight your wars and its not always top tier elite troops, gives you some variability in unit roster. But my main problem was logistics penalties and armies without generals both of which makes reinforcement and movement even within my own borders very tedious task. And also need to keep huge militia garrisons in all big towns. Rebellions always one turn away lol. And also annoyng small AI armies that wander deep into your territory and besiege settlements just to cripple your economy (cursed nomads!). Also I like how reputation, different cultures and constant agressive wars affect your control over subjects and settlements.
Sooo.... I had to restart a couple of times before I was able to unite Rus as one entity and eliminate Novgorod and Lithuania. Both of them died relatively quickly within 20 turns and werent a big problem even combined as a fough both of them at the same time. Qipchaq horde was contained but it took me almost 40 years and countless destroyed stacks of elite nomads (i was constantly attacked by their equivalent of feudal knights but it was somehow much worse than knights as their Bekh Druzhina armed with bows so i had to fight entire armies of mounted and dismounted well armored long ranged archers) before they left me in peace. And even then every 4-5 years they sent a stack to attack Ryazan just because why not and then immidietly peace out after loosing that stack. Luckily mongols arrived and saved me.
Then i had strange period of 20 years when my faction didnt have any children at all and i ended up with almost 20 60-80 y.o very senile extremely brutal lords (i assume that senile trait that gives them minus to chivalry just add them dread instead) and had to wait till new generation arrive. Then i had small war with Hungary (alliance for 50 years, reliable partner, never butchered a single christian? lets cross the mountains with 3 units and try to take Halych). And then... then I met Greeks and oh boy they love me so much that the moment war with Hungary was over they send legions of troops after my lands in Moldova and Hungary and continued to do so every few years no matter alliances I have, truces and that I just destroyed their army of a similar size. Nevermind other fronts and giga war with Jerusalem and HRE. Byzantine Emperor ignored all of that and personally led 5 stack army to cut my counquests of a previos 30 years because... I have no idea why.
Also Mongols in this timeline decided to not invade Rus - they wandered around a little and then went for middle eastern muslim factions destroying Seljuks, Abbasids and that small muslim faction in Syria and prior to that Qipchaq horde. No idea how France was destroyed. Fun little campaign and hardcore modification indeed! Not sure if I continue this one as limitations at times feel too punishing.

Interesting review. I wonder if you managed to crown your faction leader. also if you managed to obtain any cannons in your armies already (would love to utilize them against mongols). if you could share a save of a stable phase during your campaign it woudl be outstanding. thanks agian it gives the feeling of giving Kiev a play.

    VH/VH SSHIP 098 August release

This campaign with the kingdom of France is incredibly difficult. But I'm a veteran !

It begins with a long war with the Holy German Empire, followed by numerous clashes with the English and, above all, the Moors.

Thanks to the Emperor's excommunication, I was able to launch a crusade against their capital. I believe it was the only way to rebalance my forces against this powerful neighbor. Their territory was fragmented, with Hungary holding Frankfurt.

In 1219, the Moors finally managed to take Bordeaux despite my best efforts to station full armies there. They destroyed the Portuguese and Castile and Leon. The entire Iberian peninsula, except for Catalonia, was theirs, as was a large part of North Africa. Their armies are numerous and overpowering. They leave me no respite.

If I'm still holding out, it's because I've had to re-fight battles time and again, reloading my game so as not to be defeated.
I think it's clear that this level is too difficult.
Here's my current game if you'd like to take up the challenge: France 1219
