Default Is it worth attacking the Papal State?

It is a decision that im too scared to commit to.I get extremely impatient with the pope when he tells me to stop killing fellow christians so that I then have to stand by while I get pummeled by them.I cant even get a ceasefire with my diplomats. This doesnt leave me with much options. But the option I have yet to make is to be excommunicated eventhouth taking Rome is very tempting. Is it worth it? Wont it just establish another city with an allie of thiers then the entire christiandome attack me?Has anyone done this?

yes its worth it. I invade the papacy whenever i have a city in italy. You can quicky and easily deal with excomunication with one battle. I currently have control of rome and becasue i killed all of the popes units only he pops up now. SO if he doesnt like what i have to say or do, i send an army of balistas and archers against him and use him for target practice.

Lmao you go! I hate the pope to. When you are a good christian in the campaign he doesn't even help you out or what so ever, but when you are agressive he makes sure your generals die.
